Can anyone imagine what a counter-website to FSTDT would be like? Created by the fundies as an attempt to counter-attack us? I bet it'd be hilarious.

Well, it has been tried. BigChrisFilm, right after he was banned here for spamming, came up with a website he originally named Atheists Say The Scariest Things and for which the remnants are here. The only people to ever post there besides him was us. Needless to say, it was a smashing success. [/sarcasm] |

I can just see this now. They'd probably have quotes from all of us, Pharyngula, Right Wing Watch, Richard Dawkins... etc. Who knows? But if BigChrisFilm's parody didn't work, I don't think a different one would work either,.

I actually thought about what would happen if someone did that--figured the Raptards would be the first to try that. Actually, I think it would be hilarious to see them try to tear apart what I say for a change of pace.

I'd bet you that if such a website DID exist, the people running it would do all the things they falsely accuse us of doing (taking quotes out of context, ad homs with no actual refutation, attacking anyone who disagrees with them, etc.).

I remember one called "atheists say the weirdest crap" (ASTWC), that had maybe 2 quotes. It didn't look like it was maintained by anyone, though. If you've ever seen an abandoned shopping center with weeds growing in the parking lot, that's what it reminded me of.

I find it amusing how you christians mock others for their believes [sic] but if someone mocks yours you scream "persecution". You wouldnt know what persecustion [sic] was even if it kicked you in your fat ass.
'Sides, this idea we have of what it WOULD be like is what it IS like when I debate theists IRL. They deride and dismiss and assume all I say is from a place of not only theological ignorance, but worldly ignorance as well. After all, who but a lowly, idiotic footservant of satan would, nay COULD dare to question their celestial deadbeat daddy? It couldn't be because there is any valid concerns or criticism, of course not, it's because of religious persecution!
And of course, like the quote on the site quoted above about "false gods", their 'answers' are just as illogical as we point out on this site, only they still refuse to see they are using fallacious arguments or specious reasoning. In fact a lot of times it spurs them on to do exactly those things. The christian's argument was that shiva isn't as ridiculous as biblegod, because shiva isn't real and biblegod is cements EXACTLY what the point of the original quote was. They meet the reasonable and at least very arguable stance of an atheist quote pointing out the equal lack of proof for ANY deity with a direct defiance of that logic and dig in ever deeper.
Fundies are like an alcoholic who "proves" he doesn't have a drinking problem by downing a liter of vodka in front of the person making the claim.

I actually did a search in google for Atheists say the darndest things and came across something like www.atheiststooges.com or something like that. i had a hard time reading it because it is more like a blog where a person just countered everything with bible verses... |
