Where does the line for freedom of speech and hate speech exist in the U.S.A, I wonder? The owner of that van would not be able to have those stickers in Canada I bet (or at least hope). See we don't have those pesky hate speech laws here. Take the Matthew Shepard Act for example, it states quite clearly that it shall not infringe upon First Amendment rights, so even if you spout off homophobic nonsense, you're well within your right. And I'm glad it's this way, because I don't agree with censoring a person just because what they say is hateful. Besides, it lets us know who all the bigots are. This. Also, you notice how a lot of these could be a lot less dumb if they just had a LITTLE more planning? Like putting quotation marks around the word "good" in "good people," or explaining to me who the fuck thinks that cheat codes will keep them out of Hell. Oh right, every fucking religion that ever was. Gotcha. |

The classic example of this is the Exxon Valdez incident. The captain of the Valdez was a known alcoholic. Although he was undergoing rehab at the time, he should have never been put in command of a ship that big. He fell of the wagon shortly after being assigned, and the rest - like so much of Alaska's wildlife - is history. Also, he was asleep and not in command of the vessel at the time. The primary reason for the disaster was Exxon's refusal to install standard safety gear. As they say, the rest is history: Exxon ordered to pay the locals several million dollars but refusing until the court agrees to reduce the amout. |

The sad thing is, if you asked some of these people what Obama did that makes him like Hitler, they wouldn't even be able to answer. The historian in me weeps. The comparison dosen't even make sense, in any way. The closest similarity between the two is that Hitler was elected in Germany (actually the Weimar Republic) when the economy was pure shit, Obama was elected here when the economy royally sucked. Beyond that Hitler would have had Obama killed and not be all buddy buddy with him, but i'm sure that fact never crossed these protesters minds.
