Is anybody besides me reminded of an old quote from the mainpage when they see this sign? I can't for the life of me remember who wrote it (but it was probably one of our perennial favourite fundies like Supersport or Trinidad and Tobago or something like that) but the gist of it was, "Nobody is BORN gay, it's a CHOICE. Even if they WERE born gay, that doesn't mean you have to stay that way! Some people are born Asian, but through surgery and therapies people can change...." Or something like that. That stupid sign just reminded me of it. |

 LOLWUT? I didn't know there was such a language as Texan. Actually that one is kind of clever. They are mocking the "Without War we'd be speaking German now" signs that pro-war people had. The sign is supposed to be nonsensical. They lose a point for incorrect grammar. They gain numerous points for sheer bizarreness. |

Except that that wouldn't work. They'd just assume that you were born the sex you're transitioning to, and that through surgery (possibly lobotomy) and therapy you'd gone straight. I mean, unless it was obvious you were in transition. Fundies don't have the capacity to understand sarcasm or jokes or to understand when people are deliberately giving them shit.

The sad thing is, if you asked some of these people what Obama did that makes him like Hitler, they wouldn't even be able to answer. The historian in me weeps. The comparison dosen't even make sense, in any way. The closest similarity between the two is that Hitler was elected in Germany (actually the Weimar Republic) when the economy was pure shit, Obama was elected here when the economy royally sucked. Beyond that Hitler would have had Obama killed and not be all buddy buddy with him, but i'm sure that fact never crossed these protesters minds. I remember a video at one of the tea parties where a protestor called Obama a fascist - when the reporter interviewing him asked why he thought that, he stared at her for a moment and said "Because he is." |

Like how a lot of people now use "Morans" I could be wrong, but I think he's referring to the use of, "If it wasn't...." As far as I can tell, that isn't mocking anything. |
