...The Republicans don't have the warmest track record when it comes to meaningful welfare reform there Skyfire. I wouldn't be touting that line there buddy boy. Yet I note that whenever there is a push for reform, it typically comes from the conservatives or even the GOP. Just like the GOP is beholden to certain special interest groups, the DNC has groups of their own that they're beholden to.

Good none answer Skyfire.
Ironbite-try it on someone else. Give me an actual answer and stop dancing round the issue.

Skyfire, I know firsthand what that sort of reform does, it's a system designed to make those relying on government aid die. For example, if a married couple on SSI has more than $3000 saved (link), they are no longer eligible for aid, never mind that this prohibits them from saving up for such expenses as a halfway decent vehicle or for medical expenses (unless you seem to think that medicare would cover a surgery, which would just make me laugh).

Sky, maybe I phrased that wrong...they don't currently require drug tests for financial aid, but I wouldn't protest if they did, in order to make sure I'm not spending the excess money on drugs or shit.
And...yeah, IDK about the stereotypes thing, but anyone who's dependent upon another for their income shouldn't be exempt from being studied for honesty just because they *might* have a certain skin color. What, do people complain about black people having to take drug tests at work? No? Not unless it's a grossly disproportional number of blacks needing to take them as compared to the general population? Then...what's the deal? You're going to be more scrutinized if you're able to work?
Holy crap, I gotta be careful...I'm starting to sound conservative...someone snap me out of it!

I can understand why people would want drug testing for welfare. If you need money so badly, you shouldn't be wasting any on drugs(this includes alcohol, cigarettes). Drug testing for jobs is just stupid. Fire people for bad performance, not for what they do in their private life.

They're thinking that what you do in your private life can affect your professional performance...but then, they need to also test for legal drugs, like alcohol, that can severely impact how you perform.

problem with drug testing on welfare is how many perfectly legal medications mimic the actions of illegal drugs. Then there's the fact that simple poppyseed muffins could theoretically make a person test positive for crack. So... not such a good idea.

Those are problems with drug testing in ANY situation.

Reminds me of that summary of the Bible from 4chan (I think). "So God gave Moses the cheat codes to the universe", "But he gave Jesus more cheat codes than Moses"

That's dumb, but I admit I lawl'd at it. You know you play too many video games when you find yourself in the real world scrambling for an invulnerability cheat or wishing you had an "infinite resources" cheat when you're short on cash. Or you want to go back to your last save point and play over again. Not that I do that. Ever. >.> <.<
