...I just still don't know how to respond to outright racism anymore. I just don't. It's just so absurd and non-sensical, yet people still strongly go with it, for a sense of security, superiority, and to handle those "uncomfortable feelings" they have around "different" things. ...Whatever. |

Well, are they just a small cult? The vocal and virulent racists are a relatively small minority. The "unconscious" or "quiet" racists are...less so. Example: The mixed-race quarterback of my high school (in an upper middle class, 80% white, overwhelmingly conservative suburb) telling his WASPy female friend that is was safer for him to go into the city (Detroit) fro drugs because he's black, he's "one of them". And the girl completely buying his "logic". |

Racism still lives on in street gangs, militia groups, prison gangs, and several well-known racist organizations like the KKK. But, they, too, are slowly being ground to dust (except maybe prison gangs, but prison is an entirely different beast altogether)...their more ardent members are slowly dying off...old age, gun fights, disease, et cetera. The younger crowd is beginning to question their forebears, and are departing from their racist ways. Its a slow process, to be sure, but its getting more and more noticeable as each new generation comes of age.

Although I've kind of noticed "race realists" out there, although I don't know how long it has been going on. They claim that they aren't racist, when they really are, and they use faulty statistics to prove their claims.
