I feel the need to share.
My favorite of those little educational film is, and probably always will be, Sorting out Sorting. It's an absolute gem from 1980, giving you a good introduction to some different sorting algorithms, and you just have to love it.
The insufferable music, the horrible sound effects, the state of the art 70's technology, the sometimes inexplicably and insufferably slow pace - it's all there.
OK, I'll admit that it's not for everyone. But among the people I know who have seen it, at least 50% loves it dearly - even among those who aren't nerds at all! I honestly don't know exactly why, but it really has some quality to it, some special charm that makes people love it.
Unfortunately the sound quality is very bad in the below clips, but I find that it just adds to the charm.
