Not to me it isn't. The English channel was put there for a reason. Every Eurosceptic argument ultimately boils down to indignantly spluttering "b...but I drink tea, not coffee!". But since I drink coffee, wear scarves, and actively enjoy speaking French I count as more European than British, so I get to be Eurotrash. Heh, british. What a meaningless label. We should cut out wales and scotland and glue them on to the portugese coast. That would shut em up temporarily. Bunch of freeloading ginger knuckledraggers

Also Scotland with its free university and massive welfare state can go fuck itself with a cucumber until such time as it realises that aiming for independence is both stupid and massively fucking ungrateful. hmmm, this is meant to be an LGBT thread, better keep on topic, um... yay for penises?

I love French, but my grasp of the language has attrophied with nobody to speak it. I had planned o ngoing to Europe, but panic attacks and other issues cut that short (Time being, at least....I'm not the type to give up).
It's surprising how many bigots went to my French courses in college (Edit, since I didn't take language courses in High School). It's like, why the fuck would you want to speak the language if you hate everyone who speaks it?
I'd have suggested they go take a spanish class, but I guess it doesn't take much spanish to say "Go back to Mexico!"
I can tie this back into the LGBT thread, because I have enough of a grasp of the Language to watch most French flicks without subtitles on, and France seems to have some of the best gay films. I'm not sure if that counts as American bigotry or not, because I'm saying it as a plus.

To now properly post in the thread, after my too-late MST3K joke:
I consider myself straight, but I could see myself in a relationship with a man---I've never met one I'm attracted to, but I don't see it as implausible.

Posting relevances in a thread? Isn't that contrary to some by-law of the internets or something?

Bunch of freeloading ginger knuckledraggers I think I can speak on the behalf of the portuguese by saying that we don't want Wales or Scotland on our coast... you can give them to the Spanish, I'm sure they won't complain.

I bet they bloody well would, they've got enough BNP-voters refusing to learn the language squatting around Spain as it is, they don't need any damned welshlings over there.

France does have a lot of gay friendly cinema, but so does hispanic cinema. I speak Spanish so I prefer the latter obviously if the option for subtitles doesn't exist.

In light of recent conversational changes in this thread, I propose LGBT, now stands for Loud, Grumpy, British Tossers.

Have you seen Y Tu Mamá También? It's one of my favourite movies. It's a bisexual road movie. Spanish-language clip without English subtitles: English trailer:

I want to learn Japanese, so I can follow samurai flicks without looking at the bottom of the screen. I hate trying to watch a kung fu scene AND read at the same time.
