I made the last post on page 4 of this thread. Since refreshing would have caused a double post, I went to page 3, then saw a link to page 5 and clicked on it. When I did, I saw what was in this screen shot. After someone made a post on page 5, the links returned to normal. Attachments:

I'm guessing that there was a comment that got deleted. The way the programming is, it does that if a comment getting deleted causes the number of comments displayed is less than the number of comments that exist in the database. (Deleting comments hides them, unless Distind manually removes them from the database)

Thanks for your reply, Napoleon. The doubling of numbers is a bit weird, but the rest makes sense, especially since I saw that some of the comments had been removed after I posted that. It would still be a bug, just not one that happens every day, so I can understand if it's not high priority.

One suggestion to fix this based on something I've seen on other sites is to replace a deleted comment with text saying "This comment removed by site moderators," rather than hiding it.

So that's what that is.

I like MaybeNever's suggestion. Not only would it take care of the link problem, but it could help prevent misunderstandings similar to this. ;D

It'd be a bit more of a pain in the ass to implement, what I need to do is make the damn delete button fire off a recount of the comments under a quote. But I'm an idiot. Running the comment counter now.
