Yet another reason to go vegetarian.
It goes away if it's cooked, right? RIGHT?

It goes away if it's cooked, right? RIGHT?Depends on a few factors. Like the type of bacteria ( I can't remember the conditions for staph aureus) and the right amount of pressure and heat. If meat isn't properly prepared and heated, than lots of nasty shit can still be on it.

Ground beef, you need to make sure you cook every little bit of it, but that isn't true of steak, the middle can be less cooked and you're still safe. But, it is worth pointing out that cooking is referred to as a "kill step" for a reason. Oh, and wash your hands when handling raw meat as well as any utensils and surfaces that it touched.

It amazes me when people handle raw meat without gloves. If I had to handle raw meat without gloves I would dip my hands in pure ethanol

See, kids? This is why we wash our hands with ordinary, non-anti-bacterial soap, why we wash anything that has touched raw meat, and we thoroughly cook food. It's not that hard, people. Pumping the damn cow full of antibiotics while it's alive isn't a solution.

Pumping the damn cow full of antibiotics while it's alive isn't a solution. I can't find non anti-bacterial soap anymore. It should be mentioned that a large contributing factor to antibiotic resistant staph is that most factory farmed animals are chuckfull of antibiotics as a way to prevent them from getting sick. Rather than them getting antibiotics when they are sick.

Just get plain old bar soap. It works just as well as "hand soap". Soap gets the shit you want off your hands to attract to the soap that you get off the bar so that when you rinse your hands that shit goes down the drain.
