Look, could those of you stuck on the war on drugs make a thread for that? It's irrelevant to the discussion at hand. On the contrary, it is EXACTLY what we should be discussing. If it weren't for the war on drugs, cops wouldn't "need" the "freedom" to infringe on basic civil rights. It is the War on Drugs itself that has led to the erosion of basic rights and freedoms in America, starting with Prohibition in the '20's, when the government first decided to try and legislate morality. The War on Terrorism has only accelerated this erosion. But, you know, if you WANT to be strip-searched for a domestic flight, and give up all your rights... hey... go right ahead. Do you normally hear air whooshing by your head?

Just because you refuse to acknowledge the evidence, folks...

Oh my God, kitty. Shut the fuck up. You have no idea what you're even talking about. More of a clue than you do, you authoritarian boot-licker. You really do love your little under the radar flames, don't you? I have more of a clue than you ever will. The Man isn't keeping you down. It's your own stupidity and trying to skirt around the issues and making excuses for yourself. All you do is find evidence that supports your position no matter what. I don't even think you read the stuff you throw out into the open as evidence you're right. Why do people insist they know more than someone who is in the field? This case had nothing to do with the War on Drugs. What if they had smelled a rotting body instead? See how easy it is to flip it? I mean for God's sakes it's the same rhetoric from you. All you can do is call me a racist, blind follower of the laws. Yet when I give you real evidence you flounder like a fish out of water. Take your head out of your ass and open your fucking eyes. If you want to continue this, you can go ahead and call me out in F and B. Until then... STFU until you learn a few things.

AND THOSE "CRIMINALS" ARE, BY AND LARGE, CREATED BY THE GOVERNMENT'S PROHIBITION EFFORTS! So, end prohibition, end drug violence, problem solved. Unfortunately, as with ALL things in politics, if you follow the money, you'll quickly discover that the anti-drug hysteria is fueled in large part by the prison and corrections industry -- the very people who profit from prohibition efforts. And yet you're also contributing to the criminals. Regardless of whether they're created by prohibition, you're a part of the problem, not the solution.

Shane, WHAT EVIDENCE? YOU HAVE NONE! So put up, or STFU, already! I'm done with you. Clearly you can't read or have the memory of a goldfish. You want to continue your little BS hissy fit about this, then make another thread. You're starting to sound like a conspiracy theorist with your BS "follow the money and you'll get the truth" line. Too much Conspiracy Theorist Channel (aka History Channel)?

Shane, you haven't given any evidence in support of your beloved jackbooted thugs. Now please, EVIDENCE OR GTFO.
Are you denying that the prison industry makes a profit PER INMATE?
Are you denying that Prohibition has measurable negative effects on society?
CAN YOU SHOW ME, WITHOUT USING GOVERNMENT-FUNDED PROPAGANDA, THAT CONSUMING MARIJUANA IS HARMFUL TO ANYONE BUT THE CONSUMER?*
*It's a given that inhaling smoke of any kind is harmful. I'm talking, like, eating a pot brownie, here.
** And before Vene starts up with "b-but ASTHMA" -- First off, Asthma is TREATABLE. If she chooses not to treat/control her asthma, SHE is the only one responsible for it. Not me. Not your neighbor. Not the guy two blocks over with a wood-burning stove who doesn't even know she exists. Just like it's my responsibility to take my meds every day. (Which reminds me, where ARE my meds?) Secondly, if there's a crack in the wall, buy some fucking spackle or whatever you use to fix walls, and FIX IT.

I see you're one of those smokers who think they're the only ones who shouldn't ever be inconvenienced, but it's fine if others are inconvenienced because of your smoking

I see you're one of those smokers who think they're the only ones who shouldn't ever be inconvenienced, but it's fine if others are inconvenienced because of your smoking Nope, I just believe that people with treatable conditions are responsible for controlling their disease. I, too, have asthma. Get this, I take responsibility for managing it, and I carry an inhaler and avoid triggers, instead of expecting the rest of the world to fucking cater to me and stop producing triggers. Your condition, your responsibility to manage. Not mine. Not the neighbor's. Not the guy on the corner having a smoke. YOURS. Just like it's my responsibility to take my meds. It's not my partner's job to remind me. It's not my mother's responsibility. It's mine. And, as it's my illness that's being treated, I accept that responsibility. It would be nice if others could do the same, and stop expecting the world to cater to their quirks and illnesses. After all, the world ain't gonna stop producing things like pollen, smoke, dust, animal dander.... Afterthought: As for the crack in the wall? Dude, seriously, it's not that hard to fix. Even I could fix it. All it takes is some fucking spackle, which isn't that expensive. Again, responsibility....

Yep, you're one of those smokers...
I'm someone who doesn't have an asthma response to things like pollen or dust or animal dander. I do have an asthma response to cigarette smoke. Not a major one, but enough that it causes immense discomfort. You know what my father, a smoker did? He cracked open the window on road trips. Which did absolutely nothing because it still filled the vehicle anyways. Eventually, he ended up just not smoking around me anymore, and we were all happy. Just walking through the smoking section of a restaurant (which, in several restaurants was the only way to get to the non-smoking section) made it harder to breathe for a few minutes.
The smoker's responses? "Well, just go elsewhere! No one's forcing you to go HERE"
Yes, and my response is "Yes, heaven forbid you be inconvenienced and actually have to wait until you get home to smoke! Nope, I guess it makes more sense for me to drive HOURS to the next Applebee's, only to run into the same problem there."
As for the crack in the wall... lady, that shit travels through DOORS. YOU may not think it's such a big deal because you're around it all the time, so you barely smell it. To others? It REEKS TO HIGH HEAVEN and nothing short of making an air-tight seal around your entire apartment (which will suffocate you) can stop it.
