So right now the news is exploding about Arnold Schwarzenegger and his illegitimate baby. Anyone have any thoughts on how this will affect his career? Personally, I think he seriously messed up. He had people willing to rewrite the Constitution to make him president, and he's washed that down the drain. |

He had people willing to rewrite the Constitution to make him president, and he's washed that down the drain. I think Arnold has achieved exactly as much politically as he desired. If he wished, he could easily have run for the House or Senate or announced plans to do so. Instead, he seems to have enthusiastically returned to acting. So, in that regard, I don't think he has washed anything down the drain. Likewise, I do not think it will harm his acting career over-much. At the end of the day, affairs and love-children are almost standard operating procedure among both politicians and A-list celebrities. What is not SOP is quietly giving those children the financial support they deserve without any kind of trial. Arnold is a dick for cheating on his wife and fathering a child, yes, but he handled the mistakes he made in a way that reflects better on him than most celebrities or politicians. I don't see his movies because he's faithful to his wife. I see his movies because they're pretty bad-ass. I'd imagine most people think the same. |

You're surprised? I'm surprised you're surprised! I'm surprised, mostly because he seemed more moderate than most politicians, and my experience says moderate=less likely to be a hypocrite=less likely to have scandals. But that's just me. |

I'm surprised no one's pointed out the blatant typo in the story. Seriously, people, if you're gonna pretend to be journalists, maybe try running your article through spellcheck, at the very least.

To elaborate... Not being able to keep your dick in your pants doesn't necessarily make you a bad politician, but the modern guy should know the media sees it that way. On the other hand, Aarnald wasn't exactly a far above average politician. Either way, I really don't give a shit. It's like the Edwards scandal all over again minus the cancer, and I still don't really care.
To paraphrase, meh.
