Everything is evolving always, pick an organism at random and the species is currently evolving. It's not like it stops.

When I saw the thread title, I was virtually certain that Vene would make that very comment.

Every time something reproduces, it's evolving, even if only a teeny, weeny, little bit. After thousands of generations those teeny, weeny, little changes add up to quite a bit of change. You get even larger changes after millions of generations, and even more from billions of generations. This is further compounded by mutation rates of different organisms as well as environmental pressures, as they increase the amount of change that happens and successfully reproduces.

Probably the best summary of evolution I've heard besides; "The non-random selection of random mutations" is:

This is where they backpedal and call it "microevolution", because evolution is supposed to magically stop at some point. This is where you blow their minds with Hela cells: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HeLa

I was just wondering what those cells were called the other day.
Thanks, FSTDT.

All of these are only examples of microevolution, or changes within a created kind. Macroevolution has never been observed, as nobody has seen bugs turning into dogs or fish becoming birds or apes giving birth to human babies. Only God can create new kinds. Thus, this proves nothing. (/creationist)

I'm evolving right now! Press B to stop evolution. Actually, only species evolve, not individuals. So no, you are not. Also, fuck quick time events.
