Every once in a while, it will happen. A horrible disaster shall befall a country or region, a famous non-fundie will die, and, before the poor bastard(s) are even cold, some officious prick will be piping up somewhere about it being "God's Punishment", or "Righteous Judgement". Now, obviously, this sort of cuntery should not be given even the remotest tolerance, but there's no reason we can't get a wee laugh in the dark out of it all.
With this in mind, Prof. Steven Hawking has been hospitalised, and it seems he may not be long for this world. Would anyone care to join the sweep on how many days post-mortem, and which fundie website will have the first snarking, simpering hatred?
I've got RR, and 24-48 hours. Any other takers?

You'd have to give me good odds before I'd go against your bet.

I realise that. Perhaps individual hours would have been better.
Wasn't there a quote about Hawking on there before at some point? Some horrible, twisted shit basically celebrating his illness?

I'll go with 24 hours and Westboro Baptist Church.

I suspect they'll start up about him going to hell before he dies.

Well if anyone says his disease was a punishment from God, then let them know, that without the disease he would of never become the great mind he did.
Hawking openly has stated that being diagnosed with ALS is what made him focus on his career. He said that before that his thoughts and energies were all over the place.

RR's already been snarking, since the site went up...I think to keep things fair they should be excluded.
I think the IMDb boards will be the first within 24 hours, either OBW, KIBL, or Narvous will post a snark

He's expected to make a full recovery. Looks like they'll have to wait a bit longer to vulture his death.
As a note: He's cheated death more than once. I think he tells Death something along the lines of "Spare me, and I'll explain X part of astrophysics for you."
Or something. That he's alive after having been afflicted for so long is truly impressive.

Westboro probably has the video made already, they're just waiting for the green light. They don't really need to wait to make their videos, it's all the same hateful crap.

Well, that bring said, Hawking can't die yet. At least until we have a comparable physicist to replace his incredible intellect.
But I'm betting the vultures will start circling a little later than other public figures. Hawking isn't as well known or as bullish about atheism, chances are the church-folk have never heard of him. Though the WBC will still be as fast as they always have.

Well when he was first diagnosed he was told he had 2 years to live, that was over 40 years ago.
So yeah I'd say he's cheated death and then some. Death is off whimpering in the corner.

I'm not sure if it's the one you're thinking of, but I remember reading one a while back that "theorized" that he was just some random guy with the disorder that "the liberals were using as a puppet." You know, by making the computer say things remotely. Their ability to demonize & dehumanize is astounding.

Why let a vegetable in a wheelchair get all the glory. Also, you'd think his grad students would of noticed by now.
