Abstinence may be coming to the UK

In order to reduce abortions in the United Kingdom, a group calling themselves the Life organization, has been

ppointed to advise the government on sexual health.

The Life organisation has been invited to join a new sexual health forum set up to replace the Independent Advisory Group on Sexual Health and HIV.

Yes, because abstinence here in the US works so damn well

The reason for wanting to promote abstinence?

A total of 189,574 abortions were performed in 2010 – a 0.3% increase on the previous year, the figures released on Tuesday show.

Marie Stopes described the rise as small but warned that the figures sent a warning for the government's family planning strategy.

I'm not able to find any statistics of UK abortion, but for all we know it could be a minor blip of a steady decline.

How much did the population of UK residents of child bearing age rise? Important question to ask, because if it was more than by .3% then the number of abortions per person is on a decline.

You know what? Let them do this. Let them implement this. Then watch them panic and try to save face when the abortion statistics and teen pregnancy statistics start rising. If abstinence-only truly is as bad as what everyone says, then it's only a matter of time before this happens, and then the UK will start wishing for the .3% rise instead of a 3% rise.

This would be a great strategy if not for the dual facts that A) it's cutting off the noses of millions of young people to spite their faces and B) it relies on people notorious for being totally immune to reason, facts, and logic to employ their reasoning faculties in response to logic and facts.
