Yes, how FUCKING DARE she have fun at a motorbiking event! How fucking dare she not be a she-demon from the deepest pits of Conservatism! DAMMIT! Liberals. They make me laugh so hard. How cute, the person that just a few days ago figured out what laissez-faire capitalism was now thinks Palin just wanted to have fun. Just like her TV show was not really just a long campaign commercial.

Sarah's not just going to innocently ride motorcycles at this event, she's going to an event by and for veterans to get herself associated with veterans. She aint no veteran. Here's a picture of her get-up while she's tagging along. Does that scream "I want to be politically associated with war veterans" to you, or do you not realize that US army helmets looked a little different back in your grandparents day?

The look on that kids face totally says I'd be somewhere else, but she's got a firm grasp on my arm.

It sounds like the event was open to anyone who wanted to come. So why is Sarah coming so wrong, whatever her reasons? As long as she isn't there to speak out against bikers and cause trouble.

I agree that if she just comes along and takes part these is nothing wrong. However, I find it very hard to believe that a prominent conservative republican politician would attend anything without trying to campaign or finding some way to include their participation into their campaigns.

The fact she posted about it makes it pretty clear she had specific motives. This isn't "getting away for a bit and having fun". This is "wanting to be seen participating in a specific event, while trying to make it seem like I was just there for fun".

I took part in Rolling Thunder a couple times back when I still had my bike. It was part fun, part pain in the ass. But that's irrelevant to the topic at hand. Anyways, onto relevancy. Veterans are a cheap easy way to score political points. Always has been, always will be. And Rolling Thunder is a very veteran-centric event. She wasn't wrong, per se, to show up at the event. I have seen politicians there before. And she wasn't speaking out against bikers (or veterans). But her past performances make it very hard not to judge. It was "wrong" (notice the quotations?) because it reeked of cheap publicity stunt.

It seems to me that she was going there to get people to notice her, and not just to have fun. Though, I could be wrong.

Hasn't she thrown her hat into the 2012 ring yet? She'll ride anything to get elected. Snerk.
