I...I don't understand. To do this kind of thing to someone you hate with every fiber of your being would be a tough decision... But your child? The sole person who you should love unconditionally? What makes a person so deluded as to put their child in one of these places? To blame them for being raped? This is incomprehensible to me. You're sending people in to kidnap YOUR CHILD from their bedroom at night. They lead them away on a leash to an airport, IN PUBLIC, to be shipped off to a reeducation camp, taught with violence and hateful slurs.
I'm utterly disgusted that such things exist, especially in my country. I hear about the horrific honor rapes, vaginal circumcision, and illegality of homosexuality in Africa, but I just think "At least it's not in America." (Terrible, still) I cannot believe that we've sunk to legal reeducation camps in America. There should be legal protections, and the perpetrators named as they are: Human traffickers.
I think I need a sad dome now.

I don't know why you folks think you'd get a chance to attack them with a weapon. Your parents would probably ask you nicely to not keep any weapons in your room one day, and that'd be the night they call the Teen Transport Team to take you away. It would not work with me, as assuming my parents would do this, I'm up very late. They cannot guarantee that I'm not near a knife at any given time. I do have a knife in my room, but it's not sharp, & if my parents were so insistent that I get it out of there, then I would know that something is up. Again: I can't speak for everyone, I'm just saying what I would do in a kidnap situation, knowing the resources that are available to me. Now, ignoring all of that, I would try to get attention from airport security, which apparently would not work, as I'm being lead around on a fucking leash & no one's doing anything about it.

I think I have pointed out the irony before that one of the recurring complaints by the homophobes about why the gays are evil is because they allegedly seek to "convert" people. These same homophobes would see nothing wrong with this case.

These same homophobes would see nothing wrong with this case. That is so depressingly true. Books with homosexual characters are "trying to recruit the kids to a life of sin" but these textbook definition brainwashing camps are all perfectly OK and blessed by god and doing the "good work". I really feel sorry for this girl because she even admits how she conformed to the system and hurt others just how she was being hurt while there. Living with the guilt of how she contributed to the abuse of others, know also first hand how she herself was abused.

Oh my gods! I...This...Just...
Ok. After a few rage cigarettes, I have calmed down enough to post coherently. So now, what goes through a parent's mind that kidnapping is a good option to cure the gay? I mean, forget about the schools for a second. But to have strangers break into one's child's room and physically carry them off like that. I can't find the words. And then to call it love? What teh fuck is your definition of love if this is the conclusion you come to?

So glad I'm not the only one who has rage cigarettes whenever a news story pisses me off.

That would be sending a red flag up for me personally. I mean if every day I have a 12 gauge shotgun in my room when I'm not hunting and just randomly out of the blue my mom doesn't want it in my room, I would be going...ya....no....

You guys never had my mom, or one like her. It would be more along the lines of oh shit I need my gun/knife/2X4 with a nail in it. I'd reach under my bed/pillow/secret wall compartment behind the Black Sabbath poster and find it not there. She is a mean old broad. But she was never a stupid one. @ Mrs. Antichrist: Yes, my rage smokes are what keeps people around me alive and unharmed.

My mom rarely set foot in my room, and for the longest time I was either with her or she was at school, so she couldn't have snuck into my room to take anything. If she DID try to get in there, she'd have ended up with a twisted ankle from stumbling over all the clothes.
Of course, she did evidently lower herself to rummaging through my pocketbook (which is why I no longer carry one), looking at my MP3 player (and ranting about how I listened to NIN songs, even though I'd never even OF their songs at that time, not even "Closer") and trying to get my brothers to figure out how to log into my password protected computer (that I bought with my own fucking money).
So presumably, she'd be enough of a bitchcake that, if she were to do this bullshit, she'd at least get my brothers to look for weapons/improv weapons.
FWIW, I only know about the bullshit she did because my brothers were witnesses to it all and didn't want me to be oblivious. So yeah, fucking moms.
Fuck, now I want to sleep with a knife under my pillow...

Wait, Ibs has been banned?! When did that happen and why? If I had to guess, maybe Chi's locked F&B thread? He was, uh...yeah...

Them suddenly going missing would be odd, to say the least.

Living with the guilt of how she contributed to the abuse of others, know also first hand how she herself was abused. This is the point where the fear of homosexuality is so strong, the paranoia itself is causing more damage then homosexuality. Not that homosexuality is harmful of course, which presents the paranoia as a bigger BS. In other words: all this "THINK OF THE CHILDREN*!!" BS is instead harming the kids. I wouldn't be surprised if the parents are so fearful of their child's sexuality, they'll risk the kid's sanity, as a small price to pay, to make him/her a Good Cristian™ father/mother. Kinda makes me think of The Yellow WallpaperIf the paranoia of these people get worse, I hope someone whacks some sense into them. Here my question that I've been pondering: if a child comes out as gay, and you raised him/her in a "heterosexual environment", why does this prove homosexuality is a choice, but not something you can be born with? would this qualify as circular reasoning? *And by "children", I mean grown adults who can't seem to comprehend sexuality. Edit: Fixed some grammar/spelling issues.

The only thing I can suggest is making people more aware that these kind of things exist. Like telling 20/20 about it or some other reporting show who would be likely to research it and then tell the American people.

One is the idea that everyone is a sinner, even children. They think that the only way to save them is to make them "godly," because it's for their own good. The second one is that, to them, there is nothing above God. Nothing. They take the "screw your family and follow Jesus" thing literally, as opposed to, you know, a metaphor for how important God is. If abandoning your kids gives you 50 XP to get to Heaven, you can bet that's what they'll do.
