The general consensus seems to be that they could no longer justify how his message of fiscal conservative responsibility utterly conflicted with his personal expenditures and practices. The straw that broke the camel's back seems to be Newt deciding to take an insanely expensive luxury cruise. (Not to mention his new half-million dollar Tiffany's jewelry credit line.)
