So will "Maybe I'm just skeptical, but I think *hateful remark*..." be the new "I'm not *whatever*, but..."?

So if atheists walked around calling themselves Bibleskeptics or theoskeptics, would that make them more likable?

On one hand the label homosceptic does make a fair amount of sense. Remember that these people do not believe that homosexuality is an innate trait. Hence they are skeptical about it.
Still, bigot is probably the best answer. I was thinking sexist would be applicable, but sexual orientation is different from sex. To my understanding someone who is sexist is discriminating on the grounds of physical sex, and not gender or orientation.

It's sexist to say that a man can love a woman but not another man It's sexist to say that a woman can love a man but not another woman.

The root of most homophobia is sexism especially in subordinating people to one culture's gender role. Plus, they consider homosexuality = femininity = women = inferior.

I think the reason so many of these same folks don't believe in evolution is that it passed them by.

To my understanding someone who is sexist is discriminating on the grounds of physical sex, and not gender or orientation. I've always thought the nature of sexuality should really be a back burner argument. I argue the point that it's an inborn trait because it is, but really, even if it's not, so fucking what? Not aimed at you, BTW, this is kind of a tangent. The problem with the homophobic argument of "they weren't really born that way" is that it's an excuse to hate them. It might as well include "therefore, I can hate you without guilt." This is monstrous. The idea that it's "okay to hate" because something isn't inborn is far more hideous than simply not believing sexuality is an inborn trait. It really shouldn't matter--especially when you consider how many homophobes are also racists, and you can't really tell us people aren't born black or white...Well, brown and pinkish....It's more an excuse to continue hating.

So will "Maybe I'm just skeptical, but I think *hateful remark*..." be the new "I'm not *whatever*, but..."? "Some of my best friends are____." I think it's stupid to have this whole debate of what to call ignorant lazy assholes who can't be bothered to find a good reason to hate someone so they go with the obvious, be it gender, race, sexual orientation, religion, economic status, political leanings, whathaveyou. The sad truth is as long as there are more than two people on Earth, haters gonna hate.

Bearing both these arguments in mind, how 'bout something like omnibigot?

A far more accurate term would be homohaters. What's the Greek word for hate? We'll make an accurate term.

A few years ago, the Samantha Bee did a segment on the Daily Show about a Florida man who wanted to ban lesbians from his local pool league because he found them to be distracting (according to the president of the pool league, he was upset that a lesbian beat him). This idiot described himself as, not homophobic, but "homonauseaic."
How's that for making up a synonym for bigot?
