I hope they pick an inner-city church. One that runs soup kitchens and blanket drives instead of all going to high tea afterwards. Nothing wrong with tea, but I agree with the sentiment.

No matter what church he picks, it's going to be the wrong one. And if he stays home with the White house Chaplin, then the Chaplin is a secret Iman.
There's no winning for the guy with these people. Time to write them off as the loons they are.

Skyfire, the implication in the OP has nothing to do with security measures for fuckssake. That's not what the controversy is about.
When I made my post, I meant that I would've thought the security measures alone would have made sure going to church publicly wouldn't be an option. But that's not why there is controversy about it.

"sending the message that they are interested in shifting the paradigm of religion and race?"
Ok that is quite enough of the 'paradigm shift' thank you. You don't even know what your trying to say, you just think it sounds deep right?
Your cliche priveleges are hereby revoked for six months.

Reminds me of the 'paradigm shift that is life....' or some shit in The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People. I thought that book was a complete waste of time. But they could always stay at home and attend TV church. I'm an atheist and I do it on sleepless nights at 4am. Kerney Thomas is just to deliciously batshit for me to decline

Church TV is hilarious. That's where the best stuff is. Sadly, none of it can really be sourced for FSTDT.

The reason no church isn't an option is because part of being a ruler is placating the masses enough to maintain power. He has enough issues with being black and having an african father. If he doesn't go to a church every sunday, and one that will make the majority of americans at least not hate him, he'll have even more issues with the authority to govern. If the masses you rule don't approve of you, you aren't as powerful as you would be if they liked you.

I dunno, the big blow up wasn't African father as much as it was "We don't know if he was born in the US" because it was iffy, but a bc proved it that he was. The next big run was he was muslim And then there were the Wright issues I don't think he's expected to show his religious side, really. If that were the case he wouldn't have won by a landslide like he did

He should really screw with everybody and randomly go to a new one every week (better yet, not limit himself to just Christian churchs).

Going to a Jewish synagoge wouldn't cause too much problem, I don't think. But the first time he sets foot in a mosque... Actually, I would love to see him go to a pagan festival. There is a large, active pagan community in the DC area. And it's almost May... (Visions of fundies having mass heart attacks from the President going to a Beltaine celebration.)
