What was gone - all gone - was the more than $680,000 the diocese had just raised to help the homeless and abused women.

It was swiped in a covert attack by hackers.

Come on. What the hell? You're seriously gonna steal that money? From a church even? Shame on you and there's a special place somewhere bad for people like you.

Normally I wouldn't get too riled up over robbing a church, but if the money was earmarked for charity then it's a whole other story.

Stealing is stealing. Even if there is a bit of ironic justice in the situation, it is still wrong. That said, I hope they can recover it and they catch the party responsible.

I can vaguely understand stealing something.

But to steal from funds for a women's shelter? Honestly, that's like stealing funds from a fundraiser for a little kid to have a much-needed surgery. Which happened as well.

As for The Diocese of Des Moines, its prayers were answered when the $680,000 was eventually covered by insurance and its bank.
