On paper (OK, on Wikipedia), there doesn't seem anything particularly terrible about the primary tenets of libertarianism. But like most other ideologies, when it's applied in such an obsessive to the point of dickish way as the example cited in the OP, it becomes hard to endorse.

The true Scotsman has been in our hearts all along. Stabbin' stuff and bagpiping it up, mostly. And not putting sugar on their porridge. But like most other ideologies, when it's applied in such an obsessive to the point of dickish way as the example cited in the OP, it becomes hard to endorse. I'm not sure it's easy to endorse once you've seen it in practice period. It doesn't have to be taken to some obsessive extreme...Just look at the discussion that's already been going on.

The people who are really vocally libertarian tend to be the type who think there's nothing wrong with theft so long as it isn't their shit getting nicked.
