I will go booyah when Flanders admits to being gay. I think that will be the same episode we find him hanging from the rafters, honestly. He doesn't seem like the type to take his repressed homosexuality well. Well in one of the "future episodes" he was paying off Bart not to out Rod & Todd, although that probably doesn't count.

I'm actually wondering about something more serious. How many confirmed gay characters exist in media marketed to children? I can't think of a single one. I think I saw half an episode of Degrassi in which coming out was the theme. Not sure if that counts, seeing as it's not a cartoon, but I figured it's worth mentioning.

No that's Batwoman Ironbite-don't test me boy...I will END YOU! The only difference is age. And probably who sports the costume.

Do comic books that turn into cartoons count? Cause there are a couple of LGBT-fabulous characters from Marvel.

You could go on all day about Harley/Ivy and Bert/Ernie and Azula/Ty lee, but there seem to be no examples that are confimed in the show itself. This is something I really hope gets noticed and rectified in the near future. Toph was confirmed by Word of God to be gay.

I don't think Degrassi is marketed primarily to children. Do comic books that turn into cartoons count? Cause there are a couple of LGBT-fabulous characters from Marvel. If it was in a kids media, it counts. The vast majority of comics made these days are marketed towards adults. Toph was confirmed by Word of God to be gay. Using Word of God to say that a character is gay is a cheap cop-out, especially after the production is already over. I'm looking for examples in the actual content of the show itself. On another note, WHAT? Toph is gay? Where did they say this?

I always knew there was something about Toph. The whole "Twinkle Toes" thing and all.

I think X-Men was marketed to kids and teens. Either way Rogue's 'mothers' were... of course gay. Then there's Wolverine's son.
And as for anime... which is said to be geared towards kids/teens as well (not all of it of course but there is a large portion) you've got plenty there outside of the shonen ai type thing. Such as the gay wolves in Wolf's Rain and the gay sailors in Sailor Moon.

I always knew there was something about Toph. The whole "Twinkle Toes" thing and all. It all makes sense now...While we're on this derail, am I the only one who can't wait for this new "Legend of Korra" spinoff? I need more information, dammit! So far, all they've released are two promo images of the main character, a line test, and the main voice cast. Oh yeah, and it'll have steampunk. AAARG! Why can't you come out any sooner than summer 2012? Hopefully, it's as good as the original series so I can wash the stench of Shyamalamadingdong's "movie" out of my mouth. the gay sailors in Sailor Moon. You mean the ones they turned into cousins without removing any of the romantic content? Instead of lesbians, they're now incestuous lesbians. Great job on their part. Japan is less uptight about gay characters then the U.S. is, anyway.

Wonderful series. Probably DC's answer to X-Men.

Everyone always forgets about Ritchie from Static Shock ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png) There was even an episode about him coming out to Static and the rift that created between them, due to Static's inability to be accepting of it...and then acceptance when Ritchie's life was put in danger due to a villain threatening a pride parade. Or was it a comic arc? Either way, I know that the issue was actually put forward by the comic/show, and if I remember correctly, it was actually handled quite well. Comic.
