The article didn't claim that the disease was the reason for the fall of Rome, just that it could have been a contributing factor. I do know that Rome suffered a few plagues in that time period, which would have definitely not been good news for their economy. Never read anything about rinderpest specifically before though.

I was being sarcastic. I guess it would have been more obvious if you'd been there when discussions about the different factors for the fall of Rome had happened.

All we need now is for cows to develop and antivaxtard movement of their own.
Maybe get some washed up cow celebrities to spread misinformation about how rinderpest is nowhere near as bad as the possible effects of the vaccine and OMG WONT SOMEONE THINK OF TEH CALVES!!!ONE!
