I don't know, I like to think I'm a pragmatist. And the "repeal" Obama's already gotten credit for was such a cop-out it could happen tomorrow or 20 years from now. Here we are with a real suspension of it, and the Obama Administration is complaining about it because they were already on it. That screams appeasement to me, that they only wanted to offer lip service to it.
Obama's been fairly spineless no a lot of issues, and homosexuality is one that keeps coming back up. Of course, health care, government spending, and anything the Republicans don't like also fall under that category, so....
Anyway, not sure what's surprising. I was pissed at Howie Dean when he defined marriage as between a man and a woman and legalised Civil Unions (Which states don't recognise and provide only partial benefits, a la "separate but equal") And I'm pissed off at Obama for going less than half-ass.

I think you're more pissed at Obama for half-assing a lot of shit he promised. Its ok. I'm the same way too.
Ironbite-not pissed off enough to vote Republican but if we had a viable third-party....

To clarify, the stay is re-instated only partially. DADT goes back into effect, but the government is prohibited from investigating or discharging any solider under it.
In essence, you can't be kicked out for being gay if you are already in the military, but openly gay people will not be accepted into the military.
Also, this is only an *administrative stay* as the 9th Circuit prepares to issue a decision on re-instating the stay permanently.
