True, but they should have made sure it really WAS an illicit substance and she should NOT have been jailed for 12 days. IMHO, they could have simply kept her from crossing the border and confiscated the jar until they knew for sure. Their actions were horrible and grossly unnecessary. And I sincerely hope that she gets a nice hefty settlement for wrongful imprisonment. Leaving for school so can't respond again until tonight. Later everyone.

I wasn't defending them, just explaining how the two can be mixed up at first glance. It should have been tested long before the 12 days were up. Aren't there portable testing kits available for this kind of stuff, or are those only for certain drugs?
I too hope that she'll receive some kind of compensation.

They should have testing kits for all the usuals- Heroin, pot, acid, etc.,
