So, the Republicans are going to gut social programs and environmental programs. What, exactly, are the Republicans and big corporations willing to give up in exchange? Silly Iosa, you actually think there's give and take in American politics? Well, teeeeechnically...The Dems give and the Reps take.

Environmental protection, public education, health, child labour... why do you hate America, Republican Party? It's not that they hate America, it's just that they have a radically altered concept of what "America" is. To them, "America" consists of a group of people who are completely financially independent, in control of their own options and have no need for social safety nets, public services, or government programs. If you can not effectively house and feed yourself and your family, if you do not have the means to participate in risky investments, if you do not have the cash to exercise political influence, if you can not afford college, if you have no significant cash reserves to weather tough times, then to these people you are not an "American;" you are a parasite draining the life from the "real" Americans. If you want better equality of income you are a Socialist, not an American. In other words, if you think it's asinine that the average American CEO makes 415 times as much as their workers (while for comparison in England it is 23 times, in Germany 15 times, and in Sweden 13 times) then you are simply not an "American." Because they have defined "American" to be synonymous with "unregulated Capitalist." Hell, did you realize that if the minimum wage had gone up at the same percentage rate the average compensation for a CEO has, minimum wage in the USA would be around $40 an hour? (You know what it is? The Fed sets it at $7.25, but not all States enforce it. State regs vary between $5.15 in Wyoming and Georgia and $8.67 in Washington.) If you want health care for all citizens, then you are not an "American." because they have declared that, despite Constitutional language to the contrary, health care is a privilege, not a right, and should only be available to those who can afford to pay for it. If you want to go to college, but do not have the 50 grand needed to do so today, then you are not an "American," because they have decided that education is also a privilege, not a right, and you can only have it if you can pay for it yourself. The current incarnation of the Republican Party has decided that the individual is responsible for everything. Food, clothing, shelter, education, health care, everything. If you can not afford to pay for these things yourself, then you can not have them. You will starve, freeze, die from easily treatable conditions, and remain poor and ignorant because you deserve to exist in this state seeing as how if you were worthy you would be able to afford them. To expect society to assist its citizens in achieving these benefits is not, to their definition, being "American." To the Republican Party, your only measurement of worth is wealth. If you have it, you have worth and are therefore "American." If you don't have it, and you are not content to live a quiet life as a modern peasant, silently serving your betters, then you are a "parasite" on real Americans and fit only to be despised. That's why they believe the Government should only be focusing on assisting and sustaining the wealth of those businesses and individuals who already have it.

If they're against the EPA, would they be OK with me pouring toxic waste onto their front lawns? Come to that, could I pour it into their swimming pools and see which ones want to go for a dip?

Sorry Scotsgit, that won't be possible. See, they can afford the private security and gated communities necessary to prevent you from doing that. The fact that you can't afford the same means they can pour it in your front lawn all they like and you shouldn't expect the government to help you.

So, the Republicans are going to gut social programs and environmental programs. What, exactly, are the Republicans and big corporations willing to give up in exchange? From what I'm seeing, they're going to leave it up to individual states to look after that, which means you can have a few states with good Medicaid programs and water standards, and you can have some states that will tolerate arsenic levels in drinking water because a nearby mine is making obscene profits and you will have to have $2000 cash in your pocket in the event you need an ambulance ride. Alaska would be fully open for utilization of its resources like oil and minerals if a governor would so choose and have the proper backing. You could easily cut, drill and burn your way out of debt, andyou know that national parks are just some federal money grab, right? And once again, Canada can easily be seen as a Communist country for having equalization payments between the "have" and "have-not" provinces. Aren't you glad you live in a country where you don't have to give money to states "full of blood sucking parasites?" </sarcasm>

Wait, which is the party that's supposed to love America? That's good question given the fact that we seem to have two right wing parties, who don't want anyone else to have a voice. And yes, the Democrats are right wing, they're just right wing lite given the fact they don't know how to be an opposition party, and are more than happy to adopt shitty used up republican plans.

I thought we didn't want to be China. For a second I thought you meant placing little value on individual rights. Then EPA, the environment.

Sometimes I feel like the want the lower classes to die out so we have less people and more rescources to go around. If that's the case, then why fight to ban the two areas with the greatest population control; S-S Marriage and Abortion?

If that were true, I'm sure some states might secede and declare themselves a soverign nation. It'll be awkward at first, but I'm sure they'll get by. Republicans are fine with the existence of a federal government, insofar that it only does tasks that only a federal government can do. They refuse to believe that it might be able to achieve something more efficiently or more reliably than 50 state governments. If a state or local government can do something, but worse, they must.
