I'm not sure whether to laugh or cry or both.

*cringe* No. No way. Education of children is too important to leave to the parents. Every child should have the right to have a good education. I also believe homeschooling is okay, but the kids should have to past tests given by the government to make sure the kids weren't being taught useless bullshit by their parents. THIS! I am very much pro homeschooling, but there should be standards to be kept up to! I didn't have the government-sponsored tests to do, but I got lucky - My parents were genuinely interested in making sure I get an excellent education, go on to college, and get a degree, and unlike some home schooling parents, they actually put effort into achieving this. Have I mentioned that I hate and am jealous of you? Everyone should be given an education, and if at all possible, that should be extended into the 2- or 4-year postsecondary realm. I don't care if little hypocritical twerps like Skyfire disagree. What kind of life-sustaining job can you really get with a HS diploma or a GED? No, honestly, tell me.

Considering that I'm having a hard enough time getting a life-sustaining job with an associate's, I'm going to assume "none"

I did a Pharm Tech program a couple years ago in hopes of getting a job with it, but you either have to have ~3 years experience, or you have to take and pass the national certification exams (which cost close to $200) in order for anyone to even think about hiring you. And THAT'S in a state that doesn't REQUIRE certification. Ugh. Now I'm worrying about my former mentees, none of whom had any plans to purse a higher degree once they got their associate's.

To be fair to Skyfire, he's never had to find out how the real world works.

And exactly what kind of indoctrination would be happening at a pre-school? I just don't get it. Teaching the ABCs and the 123s are part of some sadistic liberal plot to turn the next generation into a bunch of gay atheist hippies? I remember once in kindergarten I made a mess with the kitchen play set and my teacher made me pick it up. Cleaning up after yourself, oh the horror! well it's a small step from cleaning up your toys to cleaning up the planet. Picking up toys is a gateway drug activity to [glow=red,2,300][shadow=red,left,300]SOCIALISM!!!!![/shadow][/glow]!
