Good riddance to bad rubbish. You do not assault another human being to the point of epileptic fits because you suffer from the delusion that their differences make them less human.

I didn't read the article in depth, was she beaten because she was trans, or because she was using the women's restroom? Thus far it seems because she used the restroom and Brown disagreed with her having the right to use that one. I mean without a picture does the girl look manish? Maybe thought she was some sort of cross dresser? If it were strictly because she was trans what stopped the two from jumping her the minute they saw her?

It was both.
"How dare a trans try to use the restroom of the gender opposite what it was born with!?"
"it" used because some transphobes use that word to demean transpeople.

In the original story that was made after it happened it was said that the employees knew the woman was trans and told the assaulter this. So, there's the part about them knowing she is trans and beating her up for using the 'wrong' bathroom. It wasn't mentioned until after they saw the woman go in the 'wrong' bathroom. I am tired though so I apologize if it's not clear.

Are you suggesting it's okay to beat somebody to a seizure for wanting to use the bathroom you perceive as wrong? There also isn't really a distinction between beating her for being trans or for using the bathroom when she was using the bathroom she did because she's trans. For the hell of it, the original video is here.

[ Does it really fucking matter? Are you suggesting it's okay to beat somebody to a seizure for wanting to use the bathroom you perceive as wrong? I think the distinction Dasfuchs was trying to figure out (I assume he wasn't a part of the original thread on the topic) was if the girl issuing the beating was under the impression the Trans was actually some sort of male creeper. After all, men have done far weirder things than cross dress in the pursuit of watching women take a whiz. Not that it would justify the beating at all, but it would render the motivations a little less...savagely bigoted. That said, I remember the original thread on this topic and hope the bitch rots in jail.

[ Not really, it is still bigoted to assume that a crossdresser is a horrible pervert interested in watching women piss. True, but I'm pretty sure we've had two threads already discussing women feeling the need to be more on guard (than men) against sexual assault at all times. Seeing someone you have pegged as a male in the ladies room would likely come up as a red flag. Though, again, this line of reasoning does not apply to this case. She new that the person was transsexual, meant no harm, and issued a severe beating anyways.

It sounds like shuffling one kind of bigotry for another. And, as you say, it i nno way justifies the bigotry, so it's hard to see it as much of a difference.

Even if a man walks into the womens' restroom they still have no right to beat him up.

The fact that she pled to the hate crime count suggests that the motive was Polis's gender identity rather than anything else.

Not to mention they probably WOULDN'T beat him up.
On a somewhat related note, before I was old enough to have a beard and moustache, I've been stopped on my way to the men's room because the staff thought I was a girl.

I have gone into the men's room with no one stopping me. O.o I am not sure what to think of this.
Also, women's restrooms are always so crowded. But men's rooms are icky.

Which makes me wonder if the employee who started the whole thing picked her because he knew she was violent.
