So anyway... all the best to our UK members or members with family and friends in the UK, and I hope you and yours all come through this intact.

You Brits? You guys can't seem to make up your mind why you guys are rioting. The ostensive cause was the shooting of a man in Tottenham, Mark Duggan. The current IPCC findings state that whilst Duggan was in possession of an illegal firearm, the police shot first. The initial evidence counteracting this story was that a bullet had been found lodged in a police radio, but this turned out to be a police-issue bullet that was very unlikely to have been fired from Duggan's firearm. In any event, the riots were initially just local protests in Tottenham, demanding the sorts of answers I've relayed above. After some confrontations between protestors and police, the incident turned into a local riot in Tottenham. What's different this time is that, somehow, the riots have grown far beyond their original source and well beyond their original cause, and taken on this Ballardian tone that certainly wasn't there in any riots I've ever seen.

At least us Canadians had a fully explainable reason to riot. We lost the Stanley Cup. You Brits? You guys can't seem to make up your mind why you guys are rioting. Many individuals were caught with crowbars, weapons and incendiaries on their person. Who exactly watches hockey with a crowbar stashed in their bag and a bandanna ready for their face? Apparently Vancouverites

And shit like this would be why most people don't like anarchists. Most anarchists are also pacifists. To clarify: When most people think of anarchy, they think of situations like these riots. When the riots get endorsed by a group of actual anarchists (as happened in the article this topic links to), it just makes it look like anarchists want the law out of the way so they can destroy things and terrorize people without consequence.

I was watching the rioting in Manchester and Salford last night. I would put the average age of the average rioter around 15 to 16 - a bunch of cocky little cunts out to cause damage, start fires and, with any luck, steal something of value without suffering any immediate consequence.
None of them appeared to be politically or socially motivated.
I would guess around 20% of the looters were female.

This. It's kinda like the situation with the tea party and the people who used to be part of the tea party before it changed into the Neo-Republican party.

Another article that made me scratch my head a bit: London rioters resent media image of hooded teen thug in the Montreal Gazette. The article starts with this picture.

Yeah, I can see why they'd be upset because he doesn't represent the looters/rioters, I mean it's not like there's a CAR ON FIRE or anything big like that in it

Maybe they are objecting to having their anger/whatever given a non-white face. Everyone knows ethnics can't be trusted to represent movements.

Given that a black guy deliberately ran over 3 Muslim guys last night...

Yeah the EDL have been talking about patrolling the streets, but nobody really believes them when they say they're not looking for a punch-up. Perhaps because their facebook page is full of idiots screaming "we're going P**i bashing!"

I'm terrified your BNP party is going to be using this as an example of what happens "When you let no-good coloured immigrants into hard-working British communities."

The ethnic minorities were, by no means, the majority in the hoodie wearing mob. Admittedly there were gangs of Asian youths - but there were also gangs of black youths, gangs of white youths and, yes, gangs of mixed ethnicity. All this goes to show is that cocky little cunts come in all colours.
