Wow. She was really professional about it, clearly outlining her reasons for the refusal and everything, and some of the parents even thanked her for notifying them of the bullshittery that was going on.
I do have mixed feelings about it, especially after the refusals of other entrepreneurs to serve homosexual couples, but...you shouldn't be denied service because of the color of your skin or the sex of who you love. Public behavior, on the other hand, is open-season.

Public behavior, on the other hand, is open-season. Indeed. If I see someone beat someone up, I have the right to deny them service based on that. Quite frankly, this photographer has done more to end bullying than Michelle Bachmann.

I applaud Jen. I know it is hard to let go of having a client when one is working on their own, but one also needs to have some standards and say "stop" when the client or business partner clearly violates them. It's necessary - unless one wants to let criminals and other unethical people abuse the services.

My ring finger's done more to end bullying than both of the Bachmanns. :x Amaranth: And she'll have a clear conscience, knowing that anything these asshats may try will get THEM in trouble, not her. It's always fun to watch bullies stew in their own juices.

I used to get in trouble for fighting back in self defense because the bullies would come home with a few bruises. Which is funny, since I usually only fought back once it was clear they weren't going to stop....

I know, that's my point. :x Blegh, bullies...the worst part is that many of them STAY bullies throughout their lives.

I don't have an issue with her denying them service. There's a pretty big difference between refusing to serve someone because you see them willfully mistreating others, and refusing simply because of their skin colour, their private sex life, and any number of things that differ from your own idea of "normal", but harm absolutely no one.

Antichrist: True, true, but I could just hear my inner fundie trying to gather steam for a good rant and wanted to head him off at the pass. I mean, wanting to get married to someone who has a similar set of genitals as you is totally a chosen behavior, amiright.
