Granted, the apology to Galileo came centuries after his death, so I don't think it really counts as one. Better late than never. It's more so HOW late it was.

It's more so HOW late it was. Granted it's late. The most preferential treatment (from today's POV) would have been to accept it right away - which we can't really expect from the Church; Galileo didn't exactly went the smart way when in the same book where he presented his thesis he insulted the pope. So they did only correct themselves centuries later. But you were saying it's worthless, and that I disagree with. What would you say if the Church would still uphold their former stance on heliocentrism? The correction is still preferable to that, and thus not worthless.

Actually, no, there was a far easier middle ground that they could've successfully achieved "better late than never" And that's when heliocentrism was actually the proven and commonly accepted fact. Rather than, you know, ages after that happened.

Yes, religion is mostly backwards and destructive to civilization. Thank you for pointing out the obvious with that shiny mirror of yours. Shiny mirror? I'd love to see what the false information/ideas that atheism is based upon are, and proof of such. Provide that and myself, and many others, will convert right away. I'm still waiting.

I think Jodie was quoting a fundie from the OP...
