I actually did vote for the NDP, in part because I wanted to see Harper get kicked out, but also because I liked Jack. I'm saddened that he's gone. Those THH22M links are exactly why this country is awesome

Also wouldn't it make Rugby far too boring. I mean an Anzac team might occasionally lose to the saffers or the poms but other than that the only test would be the lions. I dunno, if Argentina stops fucking around with their economy (something they've done throughout their entire history, so it probably won't happen anytime soon), the Pumas might be able to field a good team again - remember how they used to have one or two years where they would have first-class teams and then they would spend about 5 or 6 years fielding a team that could only seem to play until the other side scored? Well, looking at it from an historical point of view, whenever the Argentine economy was improving, the Pumas actually played quite well.

The Maoris legitimately sold the South Island to an Australian wool magnate in the early 1800s. The fact that the South Island at least is not a legitimate Australian State is due only to the capriciousness of the courts. It very nearly coulda been. I am of the opinion that an amalgamation of Australia and NZ at some point in the future is likely. Whther that is something like the unification of East and West Germany, a polyglot model like the UK, or something more akin to the EU, I don't know, but I still think it'll happen. I think it unlikely that there will be an amalgm between aus/nz. We already have extremely close economic ties. We already don't require Visas to travel into each other's country. They basically rely on our airforce. We are already so closely aligned that any further amalgmation would be pointless. All reasons why I continue my only slightly tongue in cheek canard that New Zealand is already part of Australia... because economically, militarily and politically, it may as well be. I know it makes me considered "unostrayan" but I believe there are more important aspects to national and international policy than sporting ones. Call me crazy.

Funnily enough around the time of federation it was originally intended that New Zealand would be part of Australia but that Western Australia would not. Australia was in depression and NZ was booming. They were afraid of Aussies exploiting the strong NZ economy to boost our own. And we would have done it, too. If it hadn't been for those meddling sheep!

I voted Liberal because it was close in our riding and I wanted to keep the conservatives out, they didn't get in in our riding, for all the bloody good that did......
I'd have voted NDP if it hadn't been so close.

Not economically part of Australia until they adopt the Australian Dollar as their currency. But you know that actually makes a lot of sense. While there may be things more important than sports there aren't any non sports related reasons why we would amalgamate anyway.

I'd have voted NDP if it hadn't been so close. You're lucky that you live in a riding where things can actually change. I live in god damn Stephen Harper's riding.
