I'm Canadian in name only. I despise The Tragically Hip, Barenaked Ladies, Great Big Sea and Celine Dion. I'd also include Nickelback, if I could find anyone else I know who likes them.
I didn't vote for the NDP, but I had to liked Jack for being a politician who wasn't about drama like the other buffoons in Parliament, but getting things done.

Ah, but the boringness of the politics allows us to have much better (and bolder) satirical news shows, giving us the above clips, and many more. Could John Stewart ever jump on-stage wearing a Xena costume during Obama's press conferences? Could Stephen Colbert ever have a sleep-over with Obama at the White House (or even just come over and help Obama put up some anti-draft plastic after going shopping at the hardware store)? This Hour Has 22 Minutes & Rick Mercer: Making Canadian politics interesting since the 90s. Also, we have politicians who choke reporters, brandish statues to protect themselves when a would-be assassin breaks into the PM's residence, and can't be understood while speaking in either of the official languages. |
