This is a very good thing. It shows there's still some common sense around. What's more, it reminds us of the role of the courts to begin with in the legal process. It is to keep things in check,and while the courts do bungle it (see the Jim Crow laws, and the whole "Separate but Equal" mess for some examples), it most often works.

Normally, I would be inclined to make sarcastic comments and call the lawyer an idiot. But this case is so stupid that I can't even bring myself to do that. Instead, I find myself fascinated. If Islam isn't a religion, what is it? Herman Cain apparently thinks that it is both a religion and a set of laws, but how can you possibly argue that it isn't a religion at all?

Beyond that, the hypocrisy is just so... overwhelming.
