This guy normally annoys me. But in this I think he succinctly defined one of the problems Liberals have in fighting conservative ideology.
Though he doesnt' call it as such, it's privilege.

I agree with TJ in this video - the american Left has to unite (more or less) and fight for their values and interests. Otherwise the USA will keep slowly slipping into the hands of the extreme right...

Otherwise the USA will keep slowly slipping into the hands of the extreme right... No matter how united, it won't make any difference unless marketed. And the Republicans have the marketing machine. The left isn't going to take control and successfully fight unless they're willing to get their hands dirty. The GOP is willing to equate war heroes to Osama Bin Laden. How the fuck will unification really counter that in the voting public?

Blah.
How does one stand for a principle if you have to violate that principle to successfully stand up for it?

Blah. How does one stand for a principle if you have to violate that principle to successfully stand up for it? Become a Republican.

That's precisely the problem. It seems like the democrats CAN'T do anything unless they become the very thing that they stand against. Unfortunately, half of them seem to already have. This is why we couldn't get a workable health bill with a FILLIBUSTER-PROOF MAJORITY.\ Then again, even there, had they marketed single-payer under another name, like "healthcare for all," it might have stood a chance with the people. They didn't need to lie or compromise in this case, just choose a name that wouldn't make people think they were the single payer. Or not get hung up on whether Gore invented the internet, or even whether Kerry was a decent guy. Actually, Kerry's a bad example, because he tried to pander in the worst-looking way. I'm not saying the left can take control, but they seem to bring part of the beating on themselves. Like when "Hope" and "Change" turned into "Compromise" and "Submission."
