So on last night's Republican debate (you know, the one Smilin' John Boehner bumped the President's speech for) Mitt and Rick went after each other on job creation. Rick Perry made the claim that Michael Dukakis created jobs faster in Massachusetts than Mitt did, and Mitt Romney shot back that George Bush created Texas jobs faster than Rick did. Of course, Perry instantly insisted that what Romney was saying wasn't true.
Well......technically it was true. Perry is still of that political mindset that you can make any claim you want without regard for pesky things like the facts. Now don't get me wrong, Texas has had the largest job growth rate in the country over the past few years, with 1/3 of all new jobs created in the country being in Texas. But you know the really fun part of Perry boasting on his record of job creation? Most of those jobs created were government jobs. Yes, Mr. Small Government himself is boasting about how many jobs he "created" in Texas while "accidentally" forgetting that the majority of those jobs were involved in the expansion of government.
Rick....buddy....dude....you can't have it both ways. You can't be a champion for small government and then claim kudos for expanding government.
Oh, and Rick came right out and said it again that he thought Social Security was nothing but a giant, failed Ponzi scheme. Yeah, Rick, that's how you get elected in the USA. Piss off all the senior citizens. It's not like they, you know, vote in record numbers or anything...

Yeah, I noticed that too. I was waiting for an explanation on how Gov. Perry created government jobs when government doesn't create jobs.

First, you expect the right to not be hypocritical?
second, I didn't watch it for fear that my brain would explode(or implode) from all the stupidity. any other lowlights?

The debate was mostly a waste of time honestly. There was nothing new talked about, but I did enjoy the Perry - Romney back and forth. I feel the only sane candidate was John Huntsman and this debate made him look good.

I've been saying that for a while Sadly primary voters on the right aren't going to vote for him, so there goes any hope for a civil general election between two people with the best interests for the nation at heart and slightly different approaches.

Anyone else find it a bit disturbing when the candidate that's described as sane belongs to a religion that many find to be weird at best?

Eh, atleast he's ok with civil unions, evolution, and man made global warming being good science. Also both he and Romney belong to that religion and see the differences

That is because supposedly his religion isn't supposed to matter at all. He could believe in a religion where pink elephants hide secretly in the trees and it wouldn't disqualify him for public office as long as he gets the job done properly. (It would decrease his chances of ever getting elected, what with how democracy encourages people to vote emotionally instead of rationally.)

In reality, religion tends to colour one's governing actions.

Either way, right now the Republican party seems to be trotting out the most insane, idiotic people they have, and then infighting so much it's near laughable.
In the end we all know their candidate is gonna be the one that understands the issues the least and has the most insane ideas to solve made up issues. I honestly think Perry's got the best shot in the party. Lying, double standards, clueless, religious...he's got everything republican "party first" voters crave
