I just noticed "I'm 72 and have 13-15 years to live". That's pretty impressive. I checked it out and Japan's at-birth life expectancy is now 82.9 years for males. 82.9!

I think My countries is sitting at something pathetic like 46. Whenever I see anything about the Japanese disaster I am amazed. These people were hit by one of the largest and furthest reaching disasters of the decade. The people of Japan pulled themselves out of the rubble and rebuilt their lives in half the time of any other country suffering from a smaller disaster. These people are amazing. The rest of the world could learn a lot from the Japanese. Especially with regards to functioning as a cohesive society.

For males, that's pretty damn good. Apparently female life expectancy is 86 in Japan, which is even more impressive. I think it's something like 78 for men and 82 for women here in Canada, and around 75/80 (respectively) in the US. I was impressed with how calm and orderly they were after the disaster. Meanwhile, people here rioted over a god damn hockey game.

I had to throw a salute to that pic for what they're doing. Now THAT's heroism.

They have nothing to fear from radiation as their balls of pure titanium protect them.
