Hmm
I'm a bit interested in the specific goals of the protests. It is harder to meet the expectations of an emotion than it is for to meet solid demands.

*bashes head against wall until passed out* @ranger Joe: That's awesome. Thank you. Take care of yourself over there. I heard a rumor there's protests in the twin cities as well; I'd really like to go to one. Seeing as how I don't have a job right now I might be able to actually do it.

Stop coddling the rich w/ tax breaks, make more jobs in the US, remove (corporate) money from politics. Those are the most consistent complaints, at any rate.

Weird, that wasn't what showed up before. In any case, do y'all think I'd get arrested with a sign simply saying 'FUCK THIS SHIT'?

Unlikely, unless you impede traffic or any of that shit. And if a cop does give you shit about it politely ask where you should stand. If he tries to fuck with you over the sign that's when it's time to involve the ACLU.

He's quite right. Left-wing and bad are the same, just as right-wing and good are synonymous. If you're left-wing and intelligent, you're stupid- if you're right wing and stupid, you're intelligent. If you make legitimate left-wing complaints, they're illegitimate; right-wing complaints are legitimate. If you're left wing and calmly, rationally make complaints about society, you're making a temper tantrum; if you're right wing and make a temper tantrum at people voting for the wrong president, you're calm and rational. If you're right-wing and want everything to stay the same, you're effecting change, if you're left wing and want change, you want everything to stay the same. Corporate speech is not rational, it is self-interested. Analyse corporate media with this understanding. The American media is no less totalitarian than the media from 1984, it is double-think where one thing can be both itself and the opposite at once. This media is not a tool for democracy, it is an enemy of democracy and the party of democracy ought to make destroying it a priority for the establishment of one. At intern/work today (at the Australian ABC), journos compared the two groups, but they aren't comparable. The tea party wants to worsen corporate greed, while OWS wants to end it- so the tea party is good. The tea party is idiotic and easy to control, while OWS is grass-roots, populist and in the interests of nearly all Americans- so OWS is bad. Not quite true, in fact the opposite is true. The Tea Party was started on Wall Street, arguing that TARP needed to be continued and that any regulation of banking was "promoting (the) bad behavior" of the "losers" who were scammed by the banking sector into making bad mortgages. It is a key sign that the birth of the Tea Party was on the floor of Wall Street, to the cheers of the overpaid bankers- while OWS is (obviously) against Wall Street.

I say we just cut Wall Street off of the electrical grid, backup power included, and block off any and all routes of escape. Let them see what its like to be poor, and unable to pay your bills. Maybe get a shipment of McDonald's so they have some basic sustenance, but that's it. Let them try and survive through the winter...like a fucking poor person.
My bet's at least half of em will be delirious with hunger and nearly dead from the cold within the first month of the onset of winter.

According to Facebook, it seems my country is less stupid that you'd think. There are "Occupy X" pages for every state capital that have around 2000 likes each whereas the Australian Tea Party has only 22.
I know, Facebook isn't exactly the most reliable source of statistics, but it at least shows that despite what Fox would have us believe, the Teabaggers aren't exactly supported by millions.
