Maybe because it's not their fault? They have an abnormality in their brains that impairs certain aspects of their cognitive functions, the correct response is the same response we have towards schizophrenics, prevent them from hurting themselves or others and work to find ways to mitigate their condition if at all possible.

And you wonder why I'm so "mean" to you.

I still don't see why I should show empathy to people who cannot show it back, but if you want me to withdraw my statement I'll do so. I don't see how any of us can claim the moral high ground if we morph into sociopaths ourselves as soon as we're faced with someone who has antisocial personality disorder. A human being is a human being, regardless of whether or not they'll reciprocate your empathy, and it's not like these people choose to be the way they are. I can understand being wary about getting into relationships (romantic or otherwise) with sociopaths, but wishing death upon them is blatantly hypocritical.

I went to school with one, she's now a social worker. Nice to know you wish her, and other people with a mental disability, dead. I feel really sorry for the kids she works with, then. You realize that sociopaths are incapable of empathy, so they manipulate everyone around them into doing what they want, and then discard them when they are no longer useful, without a shred of remorse. They serve absolutely no constructive function in society. So...exactly what you're doing now? Also, manipulation can be constructive. In fact, many psychological experiments involve tricking people into thinking you want something other than what you actually do.

The thing that worries me: This particular sociopath (I think Day even admitted it once?) has a large readership in the xian community through his wingnut daily articles and his blog.
What does that mean actually?

Or maybe it means that it is unnaturally easy to be led astray and not realize it.

I don't see how any of us can claim the moral high ground if we morph into sociopaths ourselves as soon as we're faced with someone who has antisocial personality disorder. I get around that sort of problem by admitting that I'm an asshole. The beauty of it is that by knowing this I don't automatically assume that everything I say and do is wonderful.

That's strange... didn't Vox Day admit that he was a sociopath on WorldNetDaily? Wouldn't that discredit him as much as it supposedly discredits Harris?
