So, where are the rageworthy comments? They're well-hidden.
But I did find one that's funny (I don't know how to use the quote formatting when quoting from outside the forum, so bear with me):
"The problem with Albertans, is that they'd vote for a coffee cup or a chip bag, if it ran as Regressive Preservative( I mean Conservative). Nothing changes"
Heh, that reminds me of what we in the Dark Empire of the South say about REAL Southerners.

The following line is a comment about your title choice(which is the first thing I saw, and thus my first reaction): Ugh, positive discrimination. What's the most important thing about her being elected? Yeah! She's a woman! Woohoo! We prove how civilised we are! It may be still necessary, but I don't like it. Not Nazis in general, the NSDAP specifically. Wrong nation, wrong century... Where does this guy come from? (train of thought, I mean, not geographically)

Let's see what I can find...
"I've been a PC for 30 years, I've seen enough of the party shifting to the left. Our new hope is Wildrose."
"It would be nice if the Citizens of Alberta get to vote who THEY want as their Premier!"
"As long as she does nothing but improve the profitability of the oil and gas business. It is good that she is promoting better healthcare and funding for schools, but she had better not touch the oil and gas in a negative way."
"wow what a lot of sick little liberal rats on this page....back in your holes #$%$"
"Well theres a province thats going down the drain."
"Did you morons NOT LEARN ANYTHING?!!!!!. Does no-one remember what life was like with that screw-up Kim Campbell in power, how could you FOOLS!!!! do this to Alberta?. Women DON`T belong in politics!!!!. They belong at home taking care of their kids and serving their man!!!!!. While I agree that it shouldn't be the only focus, nor the reason she gets elected, I don't see anything wrong with being pleased that things have progressed enough in this province -- which is heavily conservative, and therefore slow to change -- that we're starting to see more than one socioeconomic group being given the chance to lead. It's not positive discrimination, it's simply being happy that it's becoming less and less common for our gender to be treated as a handicap or black mark against us. Why can't we take a minute to celebrate that fact?

I think it's supposed to mean that we should be more like the US, and favour Harper as our guide in doing so.

It's not positive discrimination, it's simply being happy that it's becoming less and less common for our gender to be treated as a handicap or black mark against us. Why can't we take a minute to celebrate that fact? ... Let me express it the following way: Altough women are the previously disfavoured sex, a woman being elected is not egalitarian progress. It's a woman being able to be elected. But since we can't really detect that, the actual election of a woman has to serve as a proof/symptom of these new circumstances. But intrinsically, it's nothing to celebrate, and then celebrations become technically positive discrimination. I don't really see any better way, but every time something irks me about the way some people react to it. And then nightangel made it the thread title. Sorry.
