More info.... The court ruled 5-0, and stated that "Al Franken received the highest number of votes legally cast and is entitled (under Minnesota law) to receive the certificate of election as United States Senator from the State of Minnesota," Source www.startribune.com/politics/national/senate/49520987.html

At this point, even I have to admit that Franken was the most likely winner.
Coleman had a legit cause to request a recount owing to the closeness of the vote and some reported irregularities, but at this point enough's enough.

Hell, if it was good enough for Bush to win, it should be good enough for Coleman to accept defeat. I wonder how much this cost the state i.e. the people who live there who could probably use a road or two paved?

There's no way in hell he's going to appeal at the federal level. Yes he has an option, but it will be a further 6 months before the supreme court will take this up, assuming they take it up at all. And it's unlikely they will; Minnesota has proven that it has a system of resolving problems like this, and for the US Supreme court to take up the case is to deny the state its place and rights in the Union.

Finally! And while I'm glad Franken won, I'm mostly glad that it's finally resolved.

While this will not stop my boyfriend from bitching about it, at least the constant updates on the recounts will stop.

Now begins the real Al Franken Decade. Where Minnesotans can think about... Al Franken. Where GOP filibusters are made nigh impossible by ... Al Franken. Congratulations to SENATOR ... AL FRANKEN.

Someone in government with a sense of humour.
It feels so surreal.
