Egad. The woman must be either stark raving mad, or so stupid that it takes all her mental focus just to keep breathing. Or both, of course. ~David D.G.

I dunno, they've been running a series on Discovery Health about women who literally didn't know they were pregnant until -after- going into labor. And they're mentally healthy. Sometimes, women -don't- know they're pregnant, for a variety of reasons.
She was probably in shock at the time, from just giving birth out of the blue like that.

"Vigneri told officers that she didn't know she was pregnant" so there was no way the baby that popped out her could have been hers. Aaaaaghhh! I've heard that same line from every one of these types of stories! How the FUCK do you NOT know you're pregnant? Just from reading the title, I knew the "I didn't know I was pregnant" line was going to turn up. I have no idea what it's like to be a woman, much less a pregnant woman, but seriously, when your body undergoes major physiological changes... Wouldn't that have tipped you off? Sorry about the rantiness of my comment, but I've heard this type of story time and time again and it just boggles my mind how they can NOT know they're pregnant.

I dunno, I can understand it if they're very overweight, or too young to know what's going on. Otherwise, I don't get it either. Not everyone has a regular period, and not everyone's periods stop during pregnancy.

Uhhhhh. WTF. I hope you're not a surrogate mother, 'cause the parents are probably pissed.

Not everyone has a regular period, and not everyone's periods stop during pregnancy. Exactly. So it *is* possible to not know. Some women gain, like 10 pounds, total, during pregnancy, combine that with irregular periods, and a symptom-free pregnancy, it -happens.-

Yeah, my mother's been watching that series...I think I freaked out the most at the woman who purposefully did not seek out ANY pre-natal care, because she was "scared that the ultrasounds were dangerous". Even though she had two or three kids in a hospital and all, that were perfectly alright.

WMDKitty is right that it is possible to not know you are pregnant. But, after giving birth to the baby I don't understand why she couldn't believe it was hers. I'm sure she was in shock, but still, she should know that the baby she just gave birth to belongs to her.

Stupidity: Not knowing the difference between taking a shit and childbirth.

My high school accounting teacher didn't know she was pregnant. She wasn't showing, and she just thought she was going through menopause. Then she went to the hospital and the doctor was all "Surprise! You're in labor!" What shocks me about this story is the woman dropped the kid into the fucking toilet! What kind of mental case DOES that?! And you know that kid's going to grow up and ask about how s/he was born. "My Mom did WHAT?!"
