Her comments are so deeply disturbing. What a hateful, conniving bitch. This drumbeat of crap from the ReThugs is going to cause very bad things to be done by the less hinged of their followers, I fear. She'll probably end up getting eaten alive by a polar bear while her grandbaby plays with a piece of string.

Trig -- WTF kind of name is that, anyway? It could be worse. The other Palin kids could be Algebra, Geometry, Calculus and Game Theory.

Since when did the choice of who was fucking you over amount to a bigger deal than being fucked over in the first place? It's standard economic conservative/glibertarian tripe. Oppression is oppressive if an elected government does it, in this case persuant to the consent of- even the pleading of- the vast majority of people. But if an unelected, unaccountable corporation does the same thing, whether you like it or not, can't you just feel the freedom?

I doubt the name has anything to do with math, and probably a whole lot more to do with the Trigger of a gun. Because the best name for babies born with issues are ALWAYS ones linked to weapons.

Well, yeah, but I'm a Great Big Ol' Geek, so when I hear "trig", my mind immediately goes to things mathematical.

Trust me, she's never had a mathematical thought in her life. Your statement is somewhat inaccurate. Please allow me to correct it. Yeah, but you're applying that to Sarah Palin. Trust me, she's never had a mathematical thought in her life. There, that's better.

The right of the market to own things that used to be free.

I suppose honesty is out of the question. "Socialised Medicine: At worst, the same shitty service and bizarre decisions you think are OK when you pay direct" isn't much of a slogan. Since when did the choice of who was fucking you over amount to a bigger deal than being fucked over in the first place? Since it became a political matter

I wonder if Trig is short for True Religion In God Well, perhaps in the context of: Algebra: Grade: D- Geometry: "The little acorn woke up one morning, and said "Gee, I'm a tree!" Game theory: "Todd, its time to go to church so I can be protected from witchcraft? Where are the kids?" "I think they're playing Super Smash Brothers, but I'm not sure." "Well, go find them and test out your game theory."

Doctors discussing options with terminal patients =/= baby killing. This is why I'm so glad hospice care is starting to be covered under Canadian health care.

There are no "death panels." There is no "rationing of care." At the risk of being repetitive.... One of the worst things about this is that we already have rationed health care. An insurance company will eject you from your policy should you become too expensive for them. About the only thing that keeps the elderly safe in this country is the "socialised medicine" that we have for them. The insurance companies tend to throw old people to the wolves, which can often leave a gap in coverage between middle age and 65. Birth defects can be grounds for rejection under a "previously existing condition." And yet, somehow.... This is a much better way to put it. I am getting a little too fed up with the hysterics and being a little too absolute in my responses just to get some silence. But yes, you are correct, we already do have health care that is pretty much rationed. "Socialised Medicine: At worst, the same shitty service and bizarre decisions you think are OK when you pay direct" This. I want this on a t-shirt.

Well, yeah, but I'm a Great Big Ol' Geek, so when I hear "trig", my mind immediately goes to things mathematical. No, she said it was because it was her favorite subject in school. I heard it during the campaign. This is the same woman who said she read all of the major newspapers but couldn't name one, and couldn't name a Supreme Court decision that wasn't Roe V Wade. Also, she muffed two of the Amendments in the Bill of Rights (at least, I wouldn't be SHOCKED if she butchered more of them), MOCKED a study related to autism, and didn't know her husband was a secessionist though she spoke at one of the rallies. I gotta be honest, I'd take ANY education-related claim she made with a grain of salt, all joking aside.
