J, I prolly saw your house from my desk, Yeah, but could you see Russia? ;D Thanks for the replies - just about what I thought. Depressing though, isn't it? I just watched Bill Maher's "Religulous" and I guess those idiots at Bible Land in Florida weeping and wailing at the daily crucifixion and applauding and taking photos when the Roman soldier punches Jebus are the kind of halfwits we're dealing with here.

I can see Canadia from my home.
And our National Guard has protected us from Canadia for decades, without incident. When's the last time you saw a Canadian uprising?

No, couldn't see Russia. Might have been more interesting. I have found no evidence of even half wittedness in these bible thumpers.

QFT Also, for the last 35+ years, this segment has had it drummed into their heads that a vote for anything but a Republican is a vote for the devil by their church leaders. Think about it, a whole generation CONDITIONED to hate. It's no wonder we're a nation divided. The Republicans have fostered this, purposefully. It's actually a bit frightening. It may take another generation to erase this monstrous situation. Religious righties scare the fuck outta me and make me fearful for friends. And I lived in inner city Detroit for a few years and been caught up in a political riot in Turkey so I don't scare easy. J, I prolly saw your house from my desk, I spent enough time looking out the window staring at Windsor. Sorta like JC on the cross; "Hey Moses, I can see your house from here!"

As seen with the recent CPAC, Republicans have expressed a desire to relive the Nineties. They have their sights on 2010. Barack Obama is no Bill Clinton. Bill Clinton had some problems with ego, loyalty, and confrontation.
Barack Obama is statesman like, and wants to be everybody's president, even if the Fundies decline his invitation. Obama isn't going to play into their game. Unlike Bill Clinton, Obama got more than fifty percent of the popular vote. He's more liked than Bill Clinton, and this is driving them nuts. There probably won't be any sex scandals, either.

That's pretty fucking stupid. I mean even for the RR crowd. But it DOES put things into perspective with regards to what these people actually want--economy and foreign policy be damned, SAVE FETUSES!! It is stupid, but a lot of people who vote for the GOP are one issue voters. The GOP believes in outlawing abortions, no marriage for gay couples, a weak separation of church and state ect. So any candidate who is not a republican is evil by default. They will disagree with any of his policies just becasue of this. The fundies' idea of separation of church and state is that the church doesn't have to pay taxes.

When I was over at RR I saw a thread about how they love Bush and McCain because they are pro-life and they hate Obama because he is pro-choice. And that was it. They never mentioned any of the other policies the three men had. It was as if the only thing the RR posters could see, or wanted to see, was how Obama felt about abortion, and nothing else mattered. Yes a lot of times these Fundies don't know what the hell they're voting for. All they see is "anti-abortion" and "anti-gay" and they're on board. They are truly one or two issue voters. But you have to look at what they are being told day in and day out. All they listen to is Boss Limbaugh and other conservative talk radio shows, all they watch on tv as far as "news" goes is Faux News, and they listen to their pastors. They're so scared of even going outside of that conservative Fundie realm for fear of what they might find.
