Fucking hell. I need to punch someone. Nobody who believes evolution is a religious issue has any business working in education.

And this is why intelligent people choose to home school. considering that 75 percent of homeschooled kids come from evangelical families, you may want to revise your statement.

In accordance with the above referenced policy the following will no longer be allowed on t-shirts either; The theory of gravity, heliocentrism, the germ theory of disease, nuclear force either strong or weak, quantum pychics, or any of the scientist involved in the aforementioned theories.

On Friday afternoon after practice, band members piled the shirts on a table. While most were apathetic about the shirts, others felt the drama surrounding the shirts was unwarranted.
“It’s not like we are saying God is bad,” sophomore band member Denyel Luke said. “We aren’t promoting evolution.”
High School junior Adam Tilley said he understood why the shirts were repossessed.
“I can see where the parents are coming from,” he said. “Evolution has always been controversial.” The 17-year-old trombone player said his parents “didn’t care” about the shirt because it was the “name of the band’s show.”
Senior Drum Major Mike Howard said he was disappointed when he had to return the shirt.
“I liked the shirt because it was unique,” Howard said. “The theory of evolution never even crossed my mind.” The band members didn't realize that the image was depicting the evolution of man... Also promoting evolution is saying "god is bad." Gahhhhhh! indeed.

So, they're banning a shirt because it has an unpopular (at least, for the area) idea?
To the assholes who banned 'em: WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Cry me a river, will ya? It's not promoting evolution outright, nor is it shoving it in your face, so shut the fuck up! Do you see me complaining about the masses of Christian shirts and billboards all over the damn place because I don't believe in it? No! So, do the same for them, shut up, and go give Jesus another blowjob!
On a side note, if I was one of those band members, I'd have kept the shirt, consequences be damned.

Hell, I'd have asked for a modified version of the shirt, with the last stage in evolution being a guy looking at you and flipping you off. Something like this:

Well, it was a shirt issued by the school. I would be against a school issuing religious T-shirts. However, a shirt depicting the evolution of man is just NOT FUCKING EQUIVALENT.

And this is why intelligent people choose to home school. considering that 75 percent of homeschooled kids come from evangelical families, you may want to revise your statement. And I call bullshit. For one thing, 95% of all statistics are made up, especially if they're such an even number as "75%" But operating on the assumption that the statistic you provided is in fact a real statistic... Coming from an evangelical home doesn't automatically mean that you have crap for homeschooling. Not to mention that's a whole 25% that's atheistic, pagan, and etc. Although I really think it's much more than 25% of ALL USA Homeschoolers. Not to mention the sample. Those who have the most to prove (that is, fundies) tend to speak the loudest, and participate the most, while those who don't put too much emphasis on it (most everyone else) might not participate as much. As such, I call bullshit on your statistic, and I call bullshit on anything it has to do with what the person you were replying to said. It has exactly nothing to do with it, it's just a random anti-homeschooling comment. And if you're wondering why I'm so touchy about the issue, it's this: I'm homeschooled. I'm going to be graduating from college with honors. I've read a sociology book that talked about homeschooling and it even said that, on average, homeschooled kids tested HIGHER than your average public schooled kid. And you know what? I'm fucking sick of all the anti-homeschooling rhetoric on this board. It's getting to the point where it's hard to avoid comments like "homeskooling werked 4 me lol". Anyone who generalizes homeschoolers while complaining about the right generalizing pagans deserves a slap across the face and the word "hypocrite" branded onto their forehead. EDIT: I'd also like to add something. When Antichrist said "And this is why intelligent people choose to homeschool", she didn't imply that all homeschoolers were intelligent, and I am not saying that either. She was simply stating that if you're intelligent, you'll homeschool rather than let your child go to such a problematic school. Saying "most intelligent people do x" is nowhere close to saying "most people who do x are intelligent". As such, your statistic about the 75% is clearly irrelevant regardless of its accuracy.

I was going to respond to this, but basically, yeah what zachski said. Oh, and in BC, I believe around 80% of homeschooled students live where it would be over a 2 hour bus ride to the nearest school. And I know from experience that a lot the teachers they get up in the north country are there because they can't get a job in civilization.
