If Ganja doesn't want it, I'll take. Hollow bodied electrics are sweet.

Another thing with my writing - I can't write anything longer than a few chapters. I can write awesome short stories, but I can't keep that up. I also write really, really slow... I edit a lot. I'm always re-reading and re-working things, so 3 or 4 pages can take me 2 hours. This is after I won nanowrimo, by the way. It's something I have to work on, and I'd do nano again if November wasn't the busiest month of the entire year at my job.

I've had a novel knocking around in my head for years and I've tried to write it a couple times, but I've never gotten past a few chapters. It might be for the best, if I ever manage to finish it, since in the mean time the story's gotten a lot better.

I'm currently frustrated by the fact that I've wanted to tell a horror story via comic for a few years now, but just can't get it out. I've developed the world, the characters, the basic plot, but when I sit down to start writing or drawing the thing is just refuses to come out in way that I find pleasing. And if I don't find one of my creative projects to be pleasing, then it's unreasonable for me to expect the same of any potential readers. I know I'm perfectly capable of sustained writing as I'm nearing the end of what will likely be a 40-page story arc in an ongoing series and have written several short stories in the past, but I'm having such trouble with a closed story. There's nothing you guys can really do to help short of writing it for me, so I'm not asking for help. I'm just venting.
I'm likely to come against a similar problem with another short comic project I'm looking to do within the next year or so. I've already had to make to tough decision to scrap the epic story I wanted to do in favor of a much shorter, more surreal comic, so I'm going to have to wrestle with what to put in the project and what to leave out so that I can finish it within the few months of studio time I'll be given.

I like writing, but I do suck at it. I can create backgrounds and setting and worlds to set my stories in really easily, I just suck at characters, plots and actually writing in a style better than a five year-old. Although a succession of English teachers have told me that I am a good poet, it's kind of a shame, because I hate poetry and every poem I have ever written was a sarcastic parody of the pretentiousness of so many poets. I don't think they ever realised that. You and Lithp would get along quite well. On the subject of poetry at least.

Remember that laptop I talked my parents into getting me for Christmas so that I could get my shit done while family comes down?
Well, my eldest brother decided - with a mere week's warning - that he was going to be coming down again.
And between college, work, and everything the hell else (including stripping the house down and doing a shitton of errands), I never got Office, Java, or half the other stuff installed that I needed to have installed to get it fully operational. I got as far as the anti-virals, but that was about it.
Oh and since this is a weekend, both campus and the local library are closed. Plus, I've got my GRE test tomorrow, so I'll be out of town most of the day as the nearest testing center is a two hour drive out.
As such, that's going to be almost a complete week wherein I'll have not been able to do a bloody thing.
Oy.
