I didn't mean they were mandated now, but it's my understanding that they will be.

That was the reason that the government gave for the "leak" being irresponsible. Also, adults who play Animal Crossing are all paedophiles. www.itexaminer.com/adults-playing-animal-crossing-are-paedophiles.aspx"Andy Anderson, Mid-Missouri Internet Crimes Task Force holds the view that there is no reason why an adult would play Animal Crossing unless they were a paedophile trying to groom child victims". Same mentality that says all comic books and cartoons are for children and so television stations and comic shops with material not for kids are doing what they do solely to corrupt the youth of the country. I wonder what Andy would do if he went to a board dedicated to G. I. Joe, Transformers, My Little Pony, or some other long-lived toy franchise and noted all the 20- and 30- somethings who have since passed their own childhood memories on to their kids. Quick! Link this guy to the Allspark!

For all of you baffled by how certain things got on there, you have to realize that under Australian law cartoons and if I'm not mistaken even text can be considered child pornography. By that definition some of the content in /b/, ED, truechristian.com, etc is have child porn. I believe violent porn, bestiality, and a few other things are officially verboten as well.
Still some, e.g. lemonparty, don't appear to have any valid reason for being on the list. As far as I know it's legal for three old guys to give each other blowjobs pretty much anywhere outside of Muslim countries. And that's not even getting into the sites that aren't porn at all, like satanservice, the travel agency or the realtor.

I'm inclined to believe that the list isn't the actual list. That makes the strange inclusions a lot less baffling...

I don't know about text, but application of the PROTECT act has gone after people for "child pornography" before when it was cartoons or similar.

What the fuck is wrong with Australia? I mean, they have become the Saudi Arabia of the pacific.
Please tell me that the Australian people are pissed off beyond belief over this black listing and censorship crap. Heck, the old Soviet Union had less censorship than Australia currently does.

I think they tried to make the same ruling over here (which makes FUCK ALL SENSE because the whole point of banning kiddie porn is that actual children are being abused to make it) but it didn't gain any traction.

I don't know about text, but application of the PROTECT act has gone after people for "child pornography" before when it was cartoons or similar. More or less, but under US law it also has to be "obscene" so at least that means artistic merit is a defense. Not a huge comfort given how subjective that is, I know. Text isn't covered by the PROTECT [Imaginary Children] Act of 2003, but it can still considered obscenity, which is a crime in its own right, as archaic as that might be. Would Scienceology count as a 'fringe religion'? I would think so.

If it is then all we'd have to do is tell the Scientologists that their website will be banned and then they'll infiltrate the government or something and squash the entire plan. Theyb did it in the US en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Snow_White

Someone should tell him that Brass Eye was a hoax. Next thing we know he'll be saying that they can make the Wii controller emit gas to make children more suggestible.
