Actually now the Senate will get to put forth and debate amendments to the bill. Each of those amendments will have to be voted on. Then a final vote, which is a simple majority vote, needed to be taken. Then finally it goes to committee. After that the final reconciled bill must pass both the House and Senate. Finally to the Presidents desk. Oh, I see. I'd misread the OP, and assumed it had already passed in the Senate. You're right, then....mostly. I was right about it eventually going to Conference. Committee is where all bills begin the whole legislative process (damn that Schoolhouse Rock and other similar educational kids' shows, getting stuck in my head like that! ).

well this is some good news but no doubt it will be a while before it gets to the president's desk.
Though I cannot wait to see what hilarity will ensue at RR once it gets there or are they actually reacting now?

RR's most likely already spinning into a tizzy...that is if the fundies that find it aren't committing suicide first

I love how everyone at RR is squealing about the new world order, and, "These people don't care about us! How do they sleep at night!"
Oh, if only they knew how many irony meters they broke...

This is great, hopefully the final bill loses the Stupak abortion bullshit. Especially since President Obama said he didn't want to see it in the version of the bill that he sees. I'd assume if it were, it would make him much more likely to veto, but who knows, it's important this gets passed. The reactions from RR are priceless. Talking about how it passed because congress critters took bribes, I'm fairly certain the insurance companies were lobbying against it passing. This however was my favorite, "As I've said before, this is the most corrupt administration and congress in the history of the United States." Someone really needs to learn more about history and political scandals.

Not to be the eternal pessimist or anything, but isn't this the bill that makes us purchase insurance if we don't have it?

ONE STEP CLOSER TO THE END OF THE WORLD! A friend of mine on Facebook actually posted, in reference to this event, "One step closer to the end of freedom." He's a great guy in many ways, and is highly intelligent for the most part, but it has been heartbreaking to learn just how thoroughly he has swallowed the Rightwingnut party line. He probably has mistaken FOX "News" for an actual news outlet. ~David D.G.

Not to be the eternal pessimist or anything, but isn't this the bill that makes us purchase insurance if we don't have it? Basically buy health insurance or be hit with a penalty, with financial subsidies for those who would struggle to afford the health insurance premiums. Also, though it's one of the contested issues, there's probably going to be a publicly provided health option to make sure the insurance companies' prices stay... competitive.

I kinda wish it would keep the abortion thing and Obama would veto it...then use it to call the dumbfucks on the claims that he wants abortion doctors to raid everyone's homes and kill their first born or whatever.

I think that finally getting health reform is a wee bit more important than that, dasfuchs.

True, but still...then again, I can see them making up some lame excuse how it's all part of the conspiracy

This is my thought on the issue.
Abortion is one issue. Is it worth it to keep people suffering with no health care/absurd fees because of one issue, especially when that issue is blown out of proportion, even though nothing's actually changed?
