I thought the consensus here was that they were terrorists because they're Muslim religious fanatics who can't stand anything different from themselves.
Guess I was wrong.

Interesting point for the day: unlike usual claims of anti-semitism, this may actually have some merit. Ron Paul is a documented racist, opponent of the Voting Rights Act, multiculturalism, immigration and so on, along with his openly racist newsletter than he wrote and edited under his signature. Stein et al throw the allegation around so wantonly that it's bound to land on an actual antisemite from time to time, if only by accident. It's still not relevant to the discussion. Also: I thought the consensus here was that they were terrorists because they're Muslim religious fanatics who can't stand anything different from themselves. Guess I was wrong. You're thinking of the Daleks. (Flippancy aside, beware of any analysis which ascribes to the opposing forces motivations that can be summarised as "card-carrying villain".)

Right, it's an additional reason. Also, note that the guy did address the difference between the two candidates' platforms. Oh I know that he mentioned McCain's views on immigration but the overall message was still, "We can't allow even a half-black person to become President." I will concede that the video was likely irrelevant to my point regarding similarity of ideology.

I thought the consensus here was that they were terrorists because they're Muslim religious fanatics who can't stand anything different from themselves. Guess I was wrong. That is an extreme over-simplification of the problem. While their religious fanaticism is definitely a factor, western occupation and intervention could be a cause for a lot of the fanaticism in the first place. From the Crusades to the WWII invasions, the founding of Israel, the US and UK propping up the Shah in Iran, the Soviet War in Afghanistan and the US training and supplying insurgents (whoops...), the US's meddling in the Iran-Iraq War, and the current day conflicts, the west (most notably the US) has been a tad dickish to the Mideast. This has its consequences. "Terrorism against America deserves to be praised because it was a response to … the continuous injustice inflicted upon our sons in Palestine, Iraq, Somalia, southern Sudan, and … Kashmir." -Osama Bin Laden.

To be fair, the first crusade was itself a reaction to Muslim aggression, in particular the overwhelming victory at Manzikert, fueled by Christian zealotry.
