The House passed the Senate bill 219-212. The only question now is will the Reconciliation bill will pass both the House and Senate and with it the Public Option.

Three words: Suck it, teabaggers!
By Reconciliation bill, are you referring to the proposal to allow anyone to buy into Medicare? And to clarify: the current bill is going to Obama's desk regardless of the Reconciliation bill's success or failure, yes?

And to clarify: the current bill is going to Obama's desk regardless of the Reconciliation bill's success or failure, yes? Yes, the Heath Care it going to the Presidents Desk not matter what! No. The Reconciliation Bill that will be vote on tonight by the House, and then by the Senate Late if it passes, has a different public option. Here is the section of that bill. thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c111:H.R.4872:Title II Subtitle B:
SEC. 221. ESTABLISHMENT AND ADMINISTRATION OF A PUBLIC HEALTH INSURANCE OPTION AS AN EXCHANGE-QUALIFIED HEALTH BENEFITS PLAN.
(a) Establishment- For years beginning with Y1, the Secretary of Health and Human Services (in this subtitle referred to as the `Secretary') shall provide for the offering of an Exchange-participating health benefits plan (in this subdivision referred to as the `public health insurance option') that ensures choice, competition, and stability of affordable, high quality coverage throughout the United States in accordance with this subtitle. In designing the option, the Secretary's primary responsibility is to create a low-cost plan without compromising quality or access to care.
(b) Offering as an Exchange-participating Health Benefits Plan-
(1) EXCLUSIVE TO THE EXCHANGE- The public health insurance option shall only be made available through the Health Insurance Exchange.
(2) ENSURING A LEVEL PLAYING FIELD- Consistent with this subtitle, the public health insurance option shall comply with requirements that are applicable under this title to an Exchange-participating health benefits plan, including requirements related to benefits, benefit levels, provider networks, notices, consumer protections, and cost sharing.
(3) PROVISION OF BENEFIT LEVELS- The public health insurance option--
(A) shall offer basic, enhanced, and premium plans; and
(B) may offer premium-plus plans.
.....and it goes on.

The House passed the Reconciliation Bill!
We are now only 50 Senate votes away from a Public Option. The GOp can't filibuster, their only hope is with a couple of long shot parliamentary objections.
After a year of debate we are going to have health care reform and it will most likely have a public option.
"YES WE CAN" was right!

Three words: Suck it, teabaggers! You'd think their name would imply them doing exactly that.

If the Senate passes the Reconciliation bill the Secretary of Health will have to set up a public insurance option with in the rules of the bill, which will be much like Medicare, but not exactly. So a government run insurance provider which people will be able to purchase.

The House passed the Senate bill 219-212. ...meaning I can pretty well expect to get laid off any minute now. The place I work for was barely scraping by as it is (the bit with the landlord getting pissy and kicking us out on short notice fucked up the finances royally), and with Obamacare in place the resulting tax hikes and insurance premiums are likely to be such that I and perhaps a few of the other employees are now in perpetual danger of getting laid off in order to balance the books. I don't have enough money to relocate, I don't have enough money to pay for health insurance like the government is now demanding, and local hiring is likely to dry up until after the mid-terms as the local businesses try to make sense out of what's going to happen. Heck, I can pretty well kiss goodbye two of the firm job offers I had, as they were with insurance agencies; Obamacare will most probably result in them taking it in the shorts. So yeah - Obamacare will pretty well fuck me over.

Ironbite-hey Skymoron...this doesn't take effect for another 4 years Only certain part my little iron friend. As soon as the President signs the bill many benefits will go into effect including insurance companies not imposing lifetime limits. ......and if the Senate passes the Reconciliation bill the Public Fucken Option.
